The Mayor explained the bill was to fulfill the financial contractual
obligations between the City and the National Football Foundation. During the summer budget
review process the Council had put a hold on these obligations until it was clearjust how long the
Hall would remain open. Since the NFF has committed to honor their contract with the City
through 2010. In like manner, the City would continue its financial support through 2010. Only
brief discussion followed before Oliver Davis moved for a favorable recommendation to full
Council. Councilmember Rouse seconded the motion and all agreed.
The second item on the agenda a discussion of the availability of trash and recycling bins at
recreation centers was requested by Councilmember Henry Davis. In his absence Tim Rouse
and Karen White asked Jack Dillon who oversees solid-waste operations about the bins.
Apparently Henry Davis felt the current allotment to the two west side centers was inadequate.
Phil St. Clair, Parks Superintendant interjected that the cost to place dumpsters at the Centers
was $3,244. That money he suggested would have to come from the Centers budgets. Tim and
Karen said something would have to be done because the current use of barrels was inadequate.
Jack Dillon spoke to recycling. He said he would pursue obtaining recycling containers from the
Solid Waste Management District (SWMD) who manages the county-wide recycling program.
The Mayor said he would find out if there were any additional fees that would apply.
Councilmember Rouse suggested the possibility of a win/win situation running the costs through
the Center's water bills.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time Chairperson, Puzzello
adjourned the meeting at 4:22 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Ann uzzello, Chairper on
PARCS Committee
