REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 26. 2010 <br />4 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety wishes to issue commendations to individuals <br />that perform meritorious service on behalf of the citizens of this community, and; <br />WHEREAS, such service shall be recognized by the Board of Public Safety and appropriate <br />commendation shall be presented to the individuals performing said meritorious service; <br />Coordination of the rescue efforts were assisted by Dispatcher Matthew Hamilton of the <br />South Bend Communications Center. This 911 call was on the Mishawaka side of the city line. <br />Hamilton recognized that South Bend units were closer to this emergency and dispatched those units <br />in order to minimize response time to the call. <br />Cold weather conditions, moving water, and the high angle embankment contributed to the <br />dangers confronted by the rescue crews during this rescue. The vigilant preparation, quick action, <br />and heroic efforts of all individuals involved in this rescue are directly responsible for saving this <br />woman's life. <br />Be it further resolved that Brian Koloszar, Aaron LaCava, Andrew Petrie, Philip Smith, Brett <br />McVoy, Sham-ion Pohl, Matthew Baker, Jared Pearish, and Matthew Hamilton be commended and <br />recognized for their quick actions, dedication, and professionalism.
