Minutes
of meeting, held §ondsy, April 30th., 1934, read and approved.
The boprd approved the following recormendation of Wiliam F. walls for the
installation of a street light at the corner of Mishawaka Avenue and 30th., Street:
May 7, 1934
To the Honorpble Board of Public Works,
Gen tl em en
The ordinary street light 'is e. direct benefit to only a few but a lirht
that c)efiefits a church benefits many. It is this thought,, together with the. I l.oc - ation
ep,iT &urroundings of the River Park Church of Christ,, that prompts me to re commend that
th& attached petition be pranted, if sufficient funds can be - provided*
This chruch is located on 30th., Street directly behind the theatre building
on the corner of Mishawaka Avenge and 30th. , Street. Consequently no light from the
Vishawake Avenue lamps reaches this place. Between the theatre and the church is an
alley which is used extensively at night by patrons of a Night Club which is just
across the alley from the church. Because of the darkness persons going to and from the
chruch are endangered by the constant flow of automobil traffic in this alley and
the conduct of persons in cars parked In the rear of the Night Club has become a nuis-
ance.
A street light located in front of this church -,,Ill have a salubrious effect
on the situation and will greatly be appreciated by the good people who attend the churc
gatherings. i recommend that a 1000 lumen lamp, octagonal top, iron post, be so located
and installed, at a cost of $29.70 per year.
Respectfully submitted,
?villiar F.
