CITY OF SOUTH BEND STEPHEN J. LUECKE, MAYOR
DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
GREGG D. ZIENTARA
CONTROLLER
January 6, 2010
Mr. Derek Dieter
President, South Bend Common Council
4th Floor, County-City Building
South Bend, IN 46601
Re: Hall of Fame Appropriation Ordinance
Dear President Dieter:
Enclosed for filing with the South Bend Common Council is an ordinance appropriating
$721,800 from Professional Sports Development Fund # 377 to satisfy the City's financial
obligation to The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Inc., pursuant to the
City's Second Interim Agreement with that entity.
As you may recall, when the Common Council enacted its budget appropriation
Ordinance #9956-09 on September 28, 2009, The National Football Foundation had recently
announced its intent to relocate the Hall of Fame to Atlanta, Georgia. Accordingly, the Common
Council did not appropriate funds for the Hall of Fame. At this time, the College Football Hall
of Fame will remain open and operable through all or most of calendar year 2010. Because the
City has certain financial obligations to The National Football Foundation under the Second
Interim Agreement, this ordinance makes the necessary appropriation.
I will present this ordinance to the Common Council at its Committee meeting and at
public hearing.
Thank you for your assistance.
Since ly,
/r~.
~~
Gregg , ientara
Controller
Fr~~~ fn Cierk'~ Ci#@~e
JA ~d - 6 2010
~o~.w voo~~E
CtT1' CL~h4C, S4.
