Tuesday, December 26th. , 1933 <br />On account of Christmas falling on Monday, the Board met in special session <br />at 3 P. Y" in the Council Chambers. Mr. Dick Johnson and tar. Ralph H. Kuss present. <br />Mr. William S. Moore Oity Engineer and lV_r. I. S. Romig City Attorney also present.. <br />Yinutes of meeting held Monday, December 18th., 1933, read and approved. <br />The Board. approved the Plumbers Excavation Bond in Favor of 'VVilliam. H. <br />Burke in the sum of $1,000.00 signed by Royal Indemnity Company. <br />The Board approve(, the renewal certificate for the excavation bond of the <br />•11United Heating and Plumbing Company, signed by The Fidelity and Casualty Oompa.ny of <br />New York. <br />A petition for two lights on Fawthorne Drive between Wilson and Jefferson <br />1; Boulevard, was ordered referred to Supt. , William Qualls, with the recormetdation that <br />if possible two other lights being transferred to this location. <br />The Board approved c la. ins for various departments in the sum of 162.99 <br />11 and hereby orders City Controller to Tey same as soon as possible. <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the following: <br />' Vacation resolution No.2477 for the vacation of Arnold Street at New <br />York Central Railroad, more particularly described. as follows, to -wit: <br />Beginning at the intersection of tre northerly line of the New <br />York 9entral railroad right of way and the eatt line of Arnold Street in said city of <br />South Bend and running northwesterly on said line :of said right of way to the west <br />line of said Arnold Otreet, thence south on the west line of said street to the south- <br />erly line of the Illinois Division of the New York Central Railroad, thence north <br />easterly on the southerly line of said Illinois Division of said New York Central <br />-Railroad to the east line of said Arnold. Street, thence north to tre place of beginning. <br />• 'In the above named vacation resolution D10.2477, remonstrators appeared and <br />The Polish Civic Association was represented by Frank Coughlin, John Bukowski, and <br />Joseph ',Vypiszynski, remonstrating against said vacation. A written remonstrance signed <br />by approximately three hundred fifty nine resident property owners, was filed with the <br />Board. Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication and same were found. suffi- <br />cient. x-fter hearing all persons interested in said vacation resolution and being fully <br />advised in the premises, the Boaitd decides to continue hearing on said vacation until <br />`.Tuesday, January 2nd., 1934, at 3 P. 1., and the Board further decides to get in touch <br />ji 7ith the New York Central Railroad officials in an effort to reach some agreement in <br />!I the matter of this vacation of Arnold Street. <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the following: <br />• Vacation of Cherry Street, that part of Cherry Street lying between the <br />northerly line and the sour rerly line of the main line of the New York Central Railroad <br />Company's right of way, under Vacs tion Resolution No.2478. <br />• <br />• <br />In the above nmed vacation resolution No.2478, remonstrators appeared <br />and the Polish Civic Association was represented by Frank Coughlin, Attorney, John <br />Buckowski and Joseph Wypiszynski, who remonstrated. again the closing of said Cherry <br />Street. Clerk of the Board submitted .proofs of publication and same were found. suf- <br />ficient. After hearing all persons interested in said vacation and being fully advised <br />in the premises, the Board decides to continue said hearing until Tuesday, January 2, <br />1934, at 3 P.
