Qualls for investigation.
The following recommendation for light in alley in rear of 420 Lincoln
Way West was ordered placed on file:
September 22, 1932.
To the honorable Board of Public Rio rks ,
Gentlemen:
There is a condition set up in the rear of No.430 Line oin Way west,
through the arrangement of this and adjacent buildings, whereby a dark pocket is
created and screened from observation frpm the alley. It is an ideal situation for
one bent on committing a depredation. Police pass through this alley on their rounds
but unless they shoud.d go back into this dark pocket they would not observe a man
attempting to break in th6se store buildings. Consequently frequent robberies and
nuisances are committed at this place. Just recently the iron bars protecting the
windows in the rear. of Sindlingers Market were sawed and the building robbed.
I am quite in agreement with Mr. Sindlinger s -thought that a small lamp
on the pole in the alley back of his shop would be of great benefit to the adjacent
property as well as light up this pocket.
year.
