Committee Chair White opened the floor to Committee and Councilmembers for questions or <br /> comments. There were none. She then opened the floor to members of the public wishing to <br /> speak in favor of or in opposition to the legislation. <br /> Murray Miller, 1201 Priscilla Drive, stated, I would like to know what those rates are. We talked <br /> about undue burdens on businesses by raising wages, what about the burden on taxpayers by <br /> raising taxes. If you want to keep one (1) down and raise the other one (1), for me that is a <br /> problem, especially for those on fixed income. <br /> Ms. Hockenhull replied, These tax levies are actually just a portion of the taxes paid that come <br /> back to the City. The tax caps are still in place. These levies are simply the monies that come to <br /> the City. It is not an additional tax. <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis arrived at the meeting at 4:40 p.m. <br /> Committee Chair White turned the floor back to the Committee for further comment or main <br /> motion. Committeemember Voorde made a motion to send Substitute Bill No. 50-17 to the full <br /> Council with a favorable recommendation. Committeemember Williams-Preston seconded the <br /> motion which carried unanimously by a voice vote of three (3) ayes. <br /> Bill No. 51-17-DefrayinlZ the Expenses of Dept. and Civil City (continued) <br /> Bill No. 52-17- Defraying the Expenses of Enterprise Funds (continued) <br /> Bill No. 54-17- Levying Taxes and Fixing the Taxation Rate for TRANSPO <br /> Ms. Hockenhull stated, There are not representatives from TRANSPO here. They will be here to <br /> give their budget presentation again. <br /> Committee Chair White opened the floor to Committee and Councilmembers for comments and <br /> questions. There were none. She then opened the floor to members of the public wishing to speak <br /> in favor of or in opposition to the legislation. There were none. She turned the floor back to the <br /> Committee for further comment or main motion. <br /> Committeemember Voorde made a motion to send Bill No. 54-17 to the full Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation.
