This will
aid them in funding the relocation of their business from Michigan.
Vikram Shah, President of Tri-Pac, Inc.,17336 M60, Vandalia, MI, served as the petitioner of
this bill. Mr. Shah stated that Tri-Pac manufactures consumer products and wishes to move its
business to South Bend, IN from Vandalia, MI.
Councilmember Oliver Davis asked how many jobs he would be bringing to South Bend.
Mr. Shah responded, About forty (40)jobs.
This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and
opponents were given an opportunity to be heard.
None from the public wished to speak in favor of this bill.
Those from the public wishing to speak in opposition to this bill:
Sue Kesim, 4022 Kennedy Drive, South Bend, IN, stated, Just some concerns about this. There
were concerns about the height of it,being near the airport. There are two (2) yards close by. I
think the landscaping should be imposed and not given the variance. The drainage is of concern
and the current cut-ins are very close to solvent storage tanks.
Councilmember Tim Scott clarified that no rebuttal to Ms. Kesim's statement of opposition was
necessary because the bill in question was concerned with the tax abatement for the project, not
the rezoning to which Ms. Kesim was referring.
Councilmember Gavin Ferlic made a motion to adopt Bill No. 17-63. Councilmember Jo M.
Broden seconded the motion which carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes.
15
