South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting -January 15, 2010 <br />several customers who are anxious for them <br />to be up and running. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by <br />Ms. King and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved Resolution No. 2643 <br />approving an application for personal <br />property tax deduction for property in the <br />South Bend Central Development Area <br />(Endeavor Machined Products Inc., 850 S <br />Marietta St.) <br />C. South Bend Central Development Area <br />(1) Contract with Schindler Elevator for <br />elevator repairs and certification. (LaSalle <br />Hotel) <br />Mr. Relos noted that the LaSalle Hotel is <br />currently being marketed to developers. In <br />an effort show it better and for safety <br />reasons, staff has solicited a proposal from <br />Schindler Elevator to inspect and repair the <br />freight elevator. The freight elevator is one <br />of three elevators in the building, and the <br />only one that is at all operational. Schindler <br />was chosen because they have worked on the <br />hotel's elevators in the past. It was noted at a <br />site visit with Schindler that many of the <br />elevator doors on each floor are in poor <br />condition, and that on certain floors the door <br />arm locks could stick, causing the door to be <br />left open yet the elevator operational - <br />meaning the door could be left open to an <br />empty elevator shaft. <br />In addition to doing each floor's elevator <br />door maintenance, the attached proposal <br />includes the required 5-year Traction Safety <br />Test, which among other things, tests the <br />elevator's load and braking capacity. The <br />proposal is in the amount of $8,330.
