<br />City :�n,gineer, H. G. 1,7ray, filed the following primary assessment rolls:
<br />Assessment roll for the pavement of Yeade Street from Lincoln Flay 'Alest to!
<br />t Elwood v.enue under Impro-gement 'resolution No.2227.
<br />' Assessment roll for the sidewalk improvement on LaSalle Avenue from
<br />,7a1sh Street to EddyStreet under Im . ovement Resolution No.2248.
<br />Assessment roll for the grade, curb and walk improvement on Grant Street
<br />from 'lashington Avenue to Metry Avenye under Improvement Resolution No.2250.
<br />In all of the above named assessment rolls, the Board, hereby, orders
<br />that on the 25th., day of September 1929, this Board will meet in their office in
<br />the City Hall at 7-I5 P. Y. , to hear and receive remonstrances from all _persons whose
<br />-property has been assessed for said improvements and will decide whether the several
<br />lots and parcels of land have been or will be benefited in the amounts shown on said
<br />assessment rolls or in a greater or less sum than that sho,rvm on said rolls. The
<br />Board further orders that notices of said hearings shall be published on the I8th. ,
<br />day of September and on the I9th. , day of "eptember I929, in the South Bend News Times:,
<br />and Tribune according to law. •
<br />This being the date set, hearing -,Vas had on Improvement Resolution No.
<br />2288 for the grading of the alley south of victoria Street from alley east of �?iami
<br />Street to Clyde Street.
<br />In the above named improvement resolution, no remonstrators appeared and
<br />no written remonstrances were filed and the Board, being fully advised in the premises
<br />finds that the benefits to the several lots and parcels of land liable to be assessed
<br />for said improvement will )e equal to the estimated cost of same as reported by the
<br />City Engineer. Therefore, the Board decides to take final action on said imTrovement
<br />resolution and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The
<br />Board now orders that on the Ist. , day of October I929, this Board will receive, open
<br />and. read sealed proposals for the construction of said improvement up to I0 :00 A. ?T.
<br />The Board further orders that notices of said proRosals shall be published on the
<br />18th. , day of September and on the 25th. , day of September I929, in the South Bend
<br />Flews Times and Tribune according to law.
<br />The Board signed the contract with -Vhitdomb and 'Keller for the grade,
<br />curb and walk improvement on Farneman Street from ?richigan Street to ''gain Street under !
<br />Improvement Resolution 771o.2I77 in the amount of �I,713.50. The Board also approved
<br />the construction bond of same in the amount of I00% of the contract price signed by
<br />Standard Surety and Casualty Company.
<br />The Board a-oproved the construction of a light at the corner of the
<br />alley on 7illiam Street bet7rreen Jefferson and 7ashington-Street. -
<br />The Board approved the installation of a 4000 lumen light at. the corner
<br />of Vassar Avenue and 71ilbur Street at a cost of P-15.00 per year.
<br />This being; the date set, bias e—:?e received, opened and read for the
<br />grading of the alley south of Donald Street from Sampson Street to Robinson Street
<br />under Improvement Resoluti din No.2280. Bids are as follows:

<br />for°..a� ehange_iin the type of pavement other than that specified in the preliminary
<br />order for the -pavement on Prairie Avenue under Improvement Resolution No.2275:
<br />"There are 75 resident freeholders, 33 of whorp have signed the petition
<br />for asphaltic concrete pavement. This does not constitute a majority and I would
<br />therefore recommend that a final order be made for sheet asphalt.

<br />"There are 47 resident freeholders, 27 of whom have signed the petition .
<br />for a change of type. This constitutes a majority and I would therefore -recommend
<br />that a final order be made for sheet asphalt.
