Calvert Street and several others to clean up <br />j;and maintain the vacant lot in the 1600 block of East Calvert Street. Petition referred to the City Health: <br />!;Department for investigation. i <br />A petition was received from Reliable Dairy, Inc. asking for the vacation of an alley running and extending;; <br />Heast from High Street, which said alley is the second alley to the east of High Street and extending north <br />from Broadway east of High Street. Petition referred to the City Planning Commission for investigation and:' <br />recommendation. Ij <br />;'Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner, hereby informs the Board that demolition of the building located at `! <br />112507 West Roger Street is now underway. <br />;'The application for permit to remodel the store front on the building located at 1801 S. Michigan Street to <br />''be occupied as a retail stroe as requested by Ed Case, Contractor, is approved as recommended by the Build-! <br />ing Commissioner. <br />;!,Rev. Uffelman appeared before the Board on behalf of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer to request permiss= <br />''ion to close Wall Street from 29th Street west to the alley on Thursday, August 22, 1957 for an ice cream <br />'social.. Permission granted subject to clearing with the Police and Street'Departments. <br />:,The contract for the Williams Street improvement is awarded to the following: <br />'Rieth Riley Construction Company A non -collusion affidavit and a certifed <br />P/ O. Box 775 bidder's bond in the amount of 5/ of the <br />1South Bend, Indiana bid accompanied the.bid. <br />Total bid price with alternate "B"---------- $ 95,020.50 j <br />,A letter was received from the City Planning Commission recommending the vacation of the following several <br />streets and alleys: <br />1. Bryan Street from the East line of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 748 feet <br />to the easterly line of Lot 265 extended southerly across said Bryan Street. <br />2. An alley 14 feet in width running in a northerly and southerly direction from the <br />north line of an alley running easterly and westerly between the east line of Sherman <br />Avenue and the St. Joseph River, which said alley is bounded on the West by the east- <br />erly line of Lots numbered 252, 259, and 267 in Northwest Third Addition and which said <br />alley is bounded on the East by the westerly line of Lots 251, 260, and 266 of part of <br />Northwest 3rd Plat. <br />3. An alley, being 14 feet in width east and west, running north and south from the north <br />line of an alley running east�and west between Beale Street and Bryan Street northerly <br />to the south line of an alley which runs in an easterly and westerly direction between <br />--the east line of Sherman Avenue and the St. Joseph River, which said alley being va- <br />cated is bounded on the west by the east line of Lots 260 and 266 in Northwest Third <br />Addition and on the east by the west line of Lots 261 and 265 of Northwest Third Plat. <br />4. An alley 14 feet in width east and west running in a northerly and southerly direction <br />from a point on the north line of Bryan Street North to the South line of an alley running <br />in an easterly and westerly direction between the east line of Sherman Avenue and the St. <br />Joseph River, which said alley is bounded on the west by the east line of Lot 265 of North- <br />west Third Plat and on the east by the west line of Lot 264. <br />5. An alley 14 feet in width North and South running east and west between Bryan Street and <br />Beale Street from the east line of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 374.04 feet to <br />the intersection of the west line of a public alley running in a northerly and southerly <br />direction between Beale Street and Bryan Street, which said last mentioned alley is bound- <br />ed on the west by the east line of Lots 250 and 261 of Northwest Third Plat. <br />6. An alley 14 feet in width running in an easterly and westerly direction from the east line <br />of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 1002 feet, which said alley is the first alley north <br />of Bryan Street and is bounded on the south by the north line of Lots 264, 265, 2669 and 267 <br />of Northwest Third Plat. <br />7. Arthur Street from the north line of Chalfant Street to the South line of Campeau Street in <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />The letter is now referred to the City Engineering Department for further investigation and preparation of <br />a Vacation Resolution. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 28629 1957 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it is desirable to vacate <br />the following: <br />THE ALLEY WEST OF IRONWAIOD DRIVE, FROM OAK PARK DRIVE NORTH ( 140 FEET ) . <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation: <br />Lots numbered 31 4, 5, and 69 - WOODED ESTATES SUB DIVISION <br />
