532 <br />WHEREAS, it has been necessary for said trucks to use other streets; and, <br />WHEREAS, many streets in the City of South Bend are incapable of withstanding the constant use of said <br />trucks; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Public Works and SAFETY to see that traffic is expedited and fur <br />ther to safeguard pedestrians; and, <br />WHEREAS, the condition so exists that an emergency has been created; and, <br />WHEREAS, under Section 11 of Chapter 29 of the General Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Number 3709 a- <br />dopted the 12th day of July, 1969, the Traffic Bureas is authorized to expedite traffic as conditions may <br />require in an emergency, <br />IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Traffic Bureau set up the following route for inter -city trucks during <br />the time said emergency exists: <br />All east -bound trucks formerly using West Sample Street between Mayflower <br />Road and Olive Street to approach their terminals, shall now enter the City <br />of South Bend at the intersections of South Olive Street and West Ewing Street. <br />All west -bound trucks formerly using West Sample Street between Mayflower Road <br />and Olive Street to leave the City of South Bend, shall now depart from the City <br />at the intersections of South Olive Street and West Ewing Street. <br />Nothing herein contained shall prevent these trucks from using scheduled routes as presently filed with <br />Clerk of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />That further said emergency route will be used commencing on the 1st day of May, 1957 at 11:59 P.M. until <br />further carder. <br />Adopted this 29th day of April, 1957. <br />Frank J.
