556 <br />February 11, 1957 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, February 11, 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (CST). <br />All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Shoemaker. <br />Contractor's bonds were approved for Asher Construction Company and Raymond Asher. <br />A letter was received and placed on file from Dr. Carter with reference to promoting the construction of <br />sanitary sewers in the rapid development of the area in the northwest part of the City. Taken under <br />consideration by the Board. <br />A letter was received from the Polish Women's Democratic Club by Clementine Cegielski with reference to <br />a remonstance signed by forty-three (43) property owners who are protesting the operation of a jund yard <br />in the 2200 block of Dunham. Board will take it under advisement and make an investigation. <br />The Daughters of Union Veterans requested permission to conduct their annual forget-me-not sale on the <br />17th and 18th days of May, 1957. Permission granted. <br />Mr. J. W. Jones of the Seven Adventist Church appeared before the Board with reference to requesting per-J <br />mission to conduct door-to-door solicitations of Literature Evangelist Credentials. Said individual grant d <br />permission to solicit subject to registering with the Better Business Bureau and also the Council of Churdtes. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to advertise for a 2 ton pick-up truck complete with 3-Way <br />radio and custom body for the Street Department. <br />Attorney, Joseph A. Roper, appeared before the Board with reference to a proposed plan in connection with <br />the sewers in the City of South Bend. Matter continued until a later date. <br />Termination of employment with the City of South Bend Dog Pound to become effective as of February 15, 19* <br />for Charles Howell. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35 A.M.
