The time now being 10:10 A.M. it was so announced and the Bids for the Street Department were opened. Proo <br />of publications in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with <br />an affidavit signed by W. DeCanio was submitted to the Board and found sufficient. SABO <br />December 31, 1956 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, December 319 1956 at 10:00 A.M. <br />All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims in the <br />total amount of 00.00 were approved. <br />Excavation bonds were approved for A. P. Kujawski, W.W. and W.P. Sibley, William H. and Robert H. Burke, <br />Tony Szymkowiak, Victor Trippel, Walter T. Otterstein, and Henry DeWulf. <br />Contractor's bonds were approved for Rocco Simeri. <br />Chas. W. Cole & Son, 220 West LaSalle Avenue submitted to the Board proof of indemnity with the City <br />from the Bath Insurance Agency, inc. covering Workmen's Compensation and Employer's Liablity including <br />Occupational Disease Coverage. Said policy accepted and placed on file for reference in the office of Ci- <br />Controller. <br />The Board hereby approves and accepts the Dedication of Casimer and Irene Nowacki of a strip of land <br />,for public alley purposes which they hereby dedicate to the public for the use and purposes of an alley all <br />!in St. Joseph County, Indiana. This dedication is recorded in Record No. i3O Page No. in the office <br />,of the County Recorder. <br />The South Bend Humane Soci6ty.-requested that the facilities of the Dog Pound of the City of South Bend <br />Indiana be placed in the Humane Society facilities. The Board hereby approves the transfer of said Depart- <br />ment and the Humane Society is authorized to file all claims with reference to Dog Pound with the Board of <br />Public Works and further to stay within the Dog Pound Budget for 1957 which totals $13,410.00. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for painting the interior of the City <br />,Hall. <br />The Board hereby authorizes Building Commissioner, Verner L. Lane, to proceed with repairing the side- <br />walks on both sidesof Main and Jefferson Streets. Further he is directed to notify the owner of said prop <br />!erty which is presently occupied as a parking lot, to place car stops on both Main and Jefferson Streets to' <br />'prevent the cars from possibly rolling out onto the sidewalk. <br />The hearing scheduled for today of the report by Richey Whitesell of the Bendix Corporation with refer nce <br />!to progress on sound control in said corporation will be continued until January 14, 1957. <br />The firm of Clyde E. Williams & Associates, Inc. are hereby proposing to perform the engineering servi�!es <br />or the Barrett Law Public Improvement Program for the year 1957 for the City of South Bend,_JIndiana. The <br />oard authorizes said Clyde E..Williams& Assoc.
