Williams, & Assoc, <br />The monthly report of the Building Department for the month of November, 1956 was accepted and placed on <br />file. <br />Mr. F. Gerard Feeney appeared before the Board with reference to request permission bn behalf of the March„ <br />of Dimes to place a booth in front of Robertson's Department Store from December 18, 1956 until the end of; <br />the Drive. Permission granted subject to condition that the stand is removed the day after the Drive ends'l <br />Permission is further granted to their 1957 Station Wagon which they are to raffle in a parking meter plad <br />subject to clearing with the Police Department. <br />The petition with reference to reopen North Johnson Street from West Washington Street to Orange which was:1 <br />previously filed with the Board and referred to the Engineering Department is hereby refiled with the <br />Board. <br />Excavation bonds were accepted and approved for Louis Stoll Company, Inc., Mitchel Kahn Plumbing & Heating:! <br />Company, Emil C. Spromberg, Emmet Shaul & Son, Albert W. Smith Company, Inc. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to advertise for a 1957 Sedan for the Street Department. <br />i <br />Supplement Agreement No. 1 of Jefferson Boulevard Pavement Improvement as submitted to the Board was accept- <br />ed and approved by the Board the loth day,of December, 1956. <br />City Traffic Engineer recommends the installation of the following Traffic Signs Stop signs at the north- <br />west corner of Johnson Street at Orange Street. <br />Messrs Julian and Newcomer of the South Bend Tool Manufacturing Company, 1916 South Michigan Street appeared <br />before the Board with reference to request permission for the extending of footings out and into public prgp- <br />erty. (Distance of 1 foot). Plans were approved subject to inspection by the Building Commissioner as to 'I <br />structural stability. Further it is recommended by the Board that said Company be given the right to close <br />and occupy the alley adjacent to area. Alley not to be closed beyond February 11 1957. <br />The time now being 10:15 A.M. <br />(CST) it was so announcedrand the <br />bids for <br />the Street Department were <br />opened: <br />Proofs of publication having <br />appeared in the South Bend and an <br />affidavit <br />signed by C. G. Livengood <br />and in <br />the Record with an affidavit <br />signed by W. DeCanio were submitted <br />to the Board and found sufficient. <br />The <br />Board now proceeded with the <br />opening of the Bids as follows: <br />McCombts'Service Company <br />A non- <br />collusion affidavit and a <br />bidder'': <br />1215 Mishawaka Avenue <br />bond in the amount of $5,000.00 accom- <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />panied <br />the bid. <br />Total bid price ------------ $49492,50 <br />
