Armour. <br />Mr. Paul Green, representing Tri-Way Builders, Inc, appeared before the Board with reference to re- <br />questing permission to have a sewer line placed in vicininty of some recently purchased property for his <br />Company. The Board requests Mr. Green to submit to the Board a proposed sewer plan, with the exception of <br />the use of septic tanks, and also designate the exact street and so forth. The Board willahen take the <br />proposed plan under consideration for approval or disapproval. <br />Mr. Bert Liss, 125 East Pokagon Street appeared before the Board on behalf of the Indiana Cab Company,;! <br />requesting permission to temporarily move their present cab stand which is now located in from the Bus <br />Company to the first parking meter place fronting Main Street at the A & P Store. The Traffic Engineer wild <br />be contacted to make the temporary change and report back to the Board on Monday, December 39, 1956. It is'. <br />hereby understood that the Indiana Cab Company will be responsible for all expenses involved with this change. <br />C. Harry Swanson, Inc. hereby requests permission for approval of the Board to continue their temporary <br />storage of a warehouse on the Southeast corner of Ironwood Drive and Colfax Avenue, a plat of land owned by. <br />the City, for another six months. Permission granted. <br />j <br />It was moved and unanimously adopted by the Board of Public Works and Safety this date that the City <br />of South Bend petition the CAB in Washington D.C. with reference to Document No. 4251 which involves a pe- <br />tition of the Great Lakes local to curtail the service of the TWA which will affect the City of South Bend.. <br />This to be petitioned jointly by South Bend Association of Commerce, City of South Bend, City. of Mishawaka,;: <br />Mishawaka Chamber of Commerce, and any and all parties interested in said petition. It was further moved <br />that the City Attorney be responsible for execution of any and all exhibits involved and also for any nec- <br />essary traveling which may be requested in connection with said petition either in Washington D. C. or South <br />Bend. <br />The Board now accepts and approves the Dedication of the Bellville Investment Company, Inc. of the Plat <br />of Belleville Unit "E" Addition, located in the County of St. Joseph, which reads as follows: <br />f <br />BELLEVILLE INVESTMENT COMPANY, INC, and Indiana Indiana Corporation, hereby certifies that the <br />annexed map is a true representation of the Plat of Belleville Unit "E" Addition, located in the <br />County of St. Joseph, State of Indiana, and in the Southeast Quarter (SE') of Section Eight (8( <br />Township Thirty-seven (37) North Range Two (2) East; and that the lots in said addition are num- <br />bered as designated by the numbers on said map, and that the streets as shown on said map are <br />hereby dedicated to the use of the public for the use and purposes of public highways. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF Belleville Investment Company, Inc., has caused its corporate name to be signed <br />and its seal affixed and attested by its duly authorized officers on this 23rd day of November, 1956. <br />BELLEVILLE INVESTMENT COMPANY, INC. <br />By: Achille C. A petition was received from the owners of all the real estate abutting on both sides of Belleville <br />'Center Street, from Western Avenue to Washington Street, hereby respectfully petitioning for the preparation! <br />.of a resolution providing for the vacation of Belleville Center Street from Western Avenue to Washington St <br />.Petition referred to the City Planning Commission for investigation and recommendation. i <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety, meeting in regular session on Monday, November 26, 1956 accepted <br />,the following recommendation of our City Traffic Engineer, Ernest H. Miller, concerning the remov al of the' <br />`railroad signals at the intersection of Johnson and Orange Streets in South Bend, Indiana. <br />1. That the railroad signals and short arm gates be removed completely from the intersectionof <br />of Johnson and Orange Streets. <br />2. That said railroad signal equipment removed from the intersection of Johnson and Orange Streets <br />be held by the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad until such time as a study can be com <br />pleted concerning the redistribution of traffic in the area, due to the closing of Johnson Street <br />between Orange Street and Washington Avenue. Upon the completion of said study the Chicago South <br />Shore and South Bend Railroad to re -install within 90 days said railroad signals and gates at the i <br />i <br />intersection so designated by the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />If the above recommendations meet with the approval of the Chicago SouthShore and South Bend Railroad, <br />'then the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad Company may proceed immediately with the removal of th <br />!signals at the Johnson and Orange Streets intersection. <br />Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, reports the installation of the following traffic signs: <br />Yield Right of Way signs installed on Crosby Street, at Eisenhower, northwest corner. j <br />Yield Right of Way signs installed on Adams Street, both sides, at Marquette Avenue. <br />Yield Right of Way signs installed on Sunnymede Avenue, both sides, at 30th Street. <br />Stop sign installed on Jacob Street, both sides, at Miner Street. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at <br />ATTEST :C�,;, a <br />10:30 A.M.(CST) <br />a <br />
