<br />Contractor's bonds were approved for Kenneth F. Rose, Joseph Febbo, and Henry S. Schultz.
<br />Yeager Buick Motor Sales, 225 N. Lafayette Street and Dalton Pontiac, Inc. 215 South Main Street re-
<br />quests permission to use large search lights in front of their buildings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
<br />November 89 99 and 10. Permission granted to both subject to said companies feeding the meters which are
<br />(! being used.
<br />The monthly report of the Building Department for the month of October, 1956 is hereby accepted and
<br />placed on file.
<br />At the October 229 1956 meeting of the Council, the following matter was referred to the Board for
<br />appropriate disposal or for specific action: Councilman Kroll requested that the Board of Works request
<br />the Park Department ro fix the bank at Kaley School. (Letter hereby directed to Park Department to remed
<br />the situation.) Also, Councilman Carr made a motion, seconded by Councilman Kroll, that the Board of Wor
<br />check with the Railroad companies on cross -walks and see that they are repaired. Motion carried. (This
<br />matter referred to City Engineer for investigation and report.)
<br />November 11, Armistice Day, being a legal holiday which comes on Sunday will be observed on Monday,
<br />November 12, 1956 and City Hall will be closed on said day.
<br />A letter is hereby directed to owner of property at corner of Ridgedale and Woldhaven about unprot
<br />ed hole where a church began building a basements then abandoned it. This is a hazard to the public saf
<br />and must be taken care of immediately.

<br />Mr. Hubert Kuzmich, through Joseph W. Nyikos, Justice of the Peace, requests permission to conduct a
<br />!
<br />self service parking lot on vacant lot of which he is the owner, located at the Southeast corner of West
<br />Bartlett Street and North Main Street in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Schedule of
<br />fees for such parking is.10¢ for 2 hours and 25� for all day and night parking. Permission granted.
<br />The following sewer plans were approved by the Board of Public Works & Safety this 5th day of Novem
<br />ber, 1956: Altgeld Street from Home Street to Ironwood Drive, and Section "H" of Twyckenham Hills Addi-
<br />tion which includes Brookmede Drive, Hays Court, Hoke Street, Tudor Lane, and Springbrook Drive.
<br />The contracts for Street Improvement on Lake Street from the North Property line of Jefferson Blvd.
<br />to the South Property line of Washington Street, under Resolution No. 2846, 1956 for the City ofSouth Ben
<br />Indiana are hereby signed and approved by the Board this 5th day of November, 1956.

<br />ENGINEER'S CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
<br />The Engineer hereby certifies that the contract between the City of SouthBend, Indiana, Owner, and
<br />the Reed Construction Company, Inc, Mishawaka, Indiana Contractor, for the construction of a local com-
<br />bined sewer improvement in Meade Street from Elwood Avenue to Bulla Street under Improvement Resolution
<br />No. 28341,1956 has been completed in accordance with the plans and specification for this project.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2848, 1956
<br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of Publi;j
<br />Works & Safety for the vacation of DONALD STREET FROM THE WEST LINE OF MAIN STREET TO THE EAST LINE OF THE,
<br />NORTH AND SOUTH ALLEY WEST OF MAIN STREET, under Vacation Resolution No. 2848, 1956.

<br />The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having
<br />appeared before the Board and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, j
<br />seconded and unanimously carried that the said vacation resolution be finally adopted and said alley be
<br />vacated.
