• • • j October 229 1956 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, October 22, 1956 at 10:00 A.M.(DST) 11 members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Permission is hereby granted to the Eisenhower Band Wagon to conduct a parade on Tuesday, October 23, 1956 at 11:30 A.M. starting at Leeper going south on Michigan Street to Marion Street, going west on Marion Street to Main Street, going south on Main Street to Wayne Street, going east on Wayne Street to Michigan Street, and then going north on Michigan Street back to Leeper Park. The contracts of Clyde E. Williams & Associates for the improvement of Jefferson Street are hereby approved and signed by the Board this 22nd day of October, 1956. Contractor's bonds were approved for Max Dreibelbis, Joseph M. Vargyas, Ronald E. Hill, and William H. and Robert H. Burke. Maintenance bond is hereby approved for Axel A. Anderson in the sum of $1750.00 for new street pavemen on Brookton Drive, Clayton Drive, Oakdale Drive and Ireland Road. Date of expiration three years from this date. The request of the Shrine Club to bury a tank in an area between St. JosephStreet and Washington Stree ,is approved by the Board, provided however the tank is at least 10' away from any public or private sewer. Several complaints were filed with the Board with reference to the smoke nuisance caused by the furnac 1,in the Blue Ribbon Pie Company and the ,Board now authorizes that a letter be directed to said Company to 1:work out a solution to remedy the situation. Messrs. Chester Kafka and Hall having appeared before the Board with reference to their application II 1,for a taxi cab license. The Board now authorizes the City Controller to issue a limited license to each 11 ;;man with an expiration date on the 1st day of January, 1957 and at such time if conduct of both men has bee ligood, the Controller at that time is then authorized to issue a permanent permit. The petitioner with reference to the vacation of an alley between Chapin Street and Prairie Avenue s of Sample Street appeared and withdrew the said petition. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2846, 1956 PRELIMINARY ORDER WHEREAS the Board of Public Works and Safety pursuant to its notice to do so, meton the 15th day of October 1956, at the hour of 9:00 A.M. (CST) and publicly opened and considered all bids for the improve- ment of South Lake Street from the North line of Jefferson Boulevard to the South line of Washington Stree by constructing a Class "C" pavement (Types 1 to 4) in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2846,195 passed by this Board on August 27, 1956, and confirmed by this Board on October 1, 1956, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD that the street be paved with Class "C" Type 3 (6" Bituminous) pavement.
