Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Williams & Associates for the improvement of Jefferson Street are hereby <br />approved and signed by the Board this 22nd day of October, 1956. <br />Contractor's bonds were approved for Max Dreibelbis, Joseph M. Vargyas, Ronald E. Hill, and William H. <br />and Robert H. Burke. <br />Maintenance bond is hereby approved for Axel A. Anderson in the sum of $1750.00 for new street pavemen <br />on Brookton Drive, Clayton Drive, Oakdale Drive and Ireland Road. Date of expiration three years from this <br />date. <br />The request of the Shrine Club to bury a tank in an area between St. JosephStreet and Washington Stree <br />,is approved by the Board, provided however the tank is at least 10' away from any public or private sewer. <br />Several complaints were filed with the Board with reference to the smoke nuisance caused by the furnac <br />1,in the Blue Ribbon Pie Company and the ,Board now authorizes that a letter be directed to said Company to <br />1:work out a solution to remedy the situation. <br />Messrs. Chester Kafka and Hall having appeared before the Board with reference to their application <br />II <br />1,for a taxi cab license. The Board now authorizes the City Controller to issue a limited license to each <br />11 <br />;;man with an expiration date on the 1st day of January, 1957 and at such time if conduct of both men has bee <br />ligood, the Controller at that time is then authorized to issue a permanent permit. <br />The petitioner with reference to the vacation of an alley between Chapin Street and Prairie Avenue s <br />of Sample Street appeared and withdrew the said petition. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2846, 1956 <br />PRELIMINARY ORDER <br />WHEREAS the Board of Public Works and Safety pursuant to its notice to do so, meton the 15th day of <br />October 1956, at the hour of 9:00 A.M. (CST) and publicly opened and considered all bids for the improve- <br />ment of South Lake Street from the North line of Jefferson Boulevard to the South line of Washington Stree <br />by constructing a Class "C" pavement (Types 1 to 4) in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2846,195 <br />passed by this Board on August 27, 1956, and confirmed by this Board on October 1, 1956, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD that the street be paved with Class "C" Type 3 (6" Bituminous) pavement. <br />R. Smith <br />ENGINEER'S REPORT. <br />In the matter of the Bids for the, Improvement of South Lake Street from the North line of Jefferson <br />Blvd. to the South line of Washington Street•;?by constructing a Class "C" pavement in accordance with Im- <br />provement Resolution No. 28469 19569 and confirmed by this Board on October 19 1956, we hereby.report that <br />we have examined the several Bids submitted to the Board on October 15, 19569 and find that the Reed Con- <br />struction Company, Inc., 20* North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana has the lowest and best bid for Class <br />
