September 171, 1956, at the hour of 9:00 A.M. (CST) is hereby fixed as the time and the office of the <br />'Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall of this City, as the Place, when and where the Board of <br />Public Works and Safety willopen and consider bids for the above named improvements, provided all bids for <br />;the construction of said work shall be filed in the Office of the Clerk of this Board before 9:00 A.M.(CST) <br />Hof said day. Each bidder for said work shall enclose with his bid a certified check, cashier's check or <br />bid bond in the sumof five (5) per cent of the amount of his bid. to insure the execution of this contract <br />if said work is awarded to him. <br />The Clerk of this Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two (2) weekly publications of the time <br />and place, when and where bids will be received, opened and considered for the construction of said works. • <br />Said Clerk shall state in said notices, that each bidder shallenclose with'his bid a certified check, cash] er's <br />check or bid bond for above named amount, to insure the execution of this contract. ! <br />R. Sabo, Clerk <br />The monthly report of the Building Department for the month of August, 1956 was examined and placed <br />on file. ! • <br />VACATION RESOLUTION No. 2839 <br />Due to an error in publication of said vacation, the hearing set for this date will be continued until <br />Monday, October 1, 1956 at 10:00 A.M.(DST). Publication of said hearing will appear in the South Bend <br />Tribune and The Record on the 7th, 14th, and 21st days of September, 1956. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2845 <br />Mr. Warren McGiel and Mr. Irving Hurwich appeared before the Board with reference to the above named <br />hearing on Vacation of a portion of the north and south alley lying between Chapin and Pine Streets and • <br />asked at this time for permission to have the hearing continued for 1 week until Monday, September 109 1956 <br />at 10:00 A.M. (DST). Permission granted. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2840 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of damages and the <br />assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of the FIRST ALLEY NORTH OF ELWOOD AVENUE FROM ILLINOIS <br />STREET TO CHICAGO STREET, under Resolution No. 2040. <br />IN THE ABOVE NAMED ASSESSMENT ROLL, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. <br />The Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and the !I <br />Board therefore finds that the alley has been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The;) <br />Board, therefore decides to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things rati'lli <br />fied, confirmed, and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon <br />receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceed <br />ings had with reference to said vacation are hereby sustained. I . <br />Robertson's Department store requests permission for use of a large search light in first 2 parking 1 <br />spaces west of corner of Carroll & Wayne Streets in front of Warehouse No. 1 on September 28, 1956. <br />Permission granted. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:55 A.M.
