September 171, 1956, at the hour of 9:00 A.M. (CST) is hereby fixed as the time and the office of the 'Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall of this City, as the Place, when and where the Board of Public Works and Safety willopen and consider bids for the above named improvements, provided all bids for ;the construction of said work shall be filed in the Office of the Clerk of this Board before 9:00 A.M.(CST) Hof said day. Each bidder for said work shall enclose with his bid a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond in the sumof five (5) per cent of the amount of his bid. to insure the execution of this contract if said work is awarded to him. The Clerk of this Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two (2) weekly publications of the time and place, when and where bids will be received, opened and considered for the construction of said works. • Said Clerk shall state in said notices, that each bidder shallenclose with'his bid a certified check, cash] er's check or bid bond for above named amount, to insure the execution of this contract. ! Sabo, Clerk The monthly report of the Building Department for the month of August, 1956 was examined and placed on file. ! • VACATION RESOLUTION No. 2839 Due to an error in publication of said vacation, the hearing set for this date will be continued until Monday, October 1, 1956 at 10:00 A.M.(DST). Publication of said hearing will appear in the South Bend Tribune and The Record on the 7th, 14th, and 21st days of September, 1956. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2845 Mr. Warren McGiel and Mr. Irving Hurwich appeared before the Board with reference to the above named hearing on Vacation of a portion of the north and south alley lying between Chapin and Pine Streets and • asked at this time for permission to have the hearing continued for 1 week until Monday, September 109 1956 at 10:00 A.M. (DST). Permission granted. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2840 This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of the FIRST ALLEY NORTH OF ELWOOD AVENUE FROM ILLINOIS STREET TO CHICAGO STREET, under Resolution No. 2040. IN THE ABOVE NAMED ASSESSMENT ROLL, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. The Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and the !I Board therefore finds that the alley has been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The;) Board, therefore decides to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things rati'lli fied, confirmed, and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceed ings had with reference to said vacation are hereby sustained. I . Robertson's Department store requests permission for use of a large search light in first 2 parking 1 spaces west of corner of Carroll & Wayne Streets in front of Warehouse No. 1 on September 28, 1956.
