516 The following plans for sewer were approved and signed by the Board: Scenie Drive and Clearview P1. as submitted by the engineers of the Colpaert Realty Corporation. Appearing before the Board of Public Works & Safety was Mr. J. McCarthy, O'Brien Corporation, and Francis Jones, Attorney for said corporation with reference to the request of the O'Brien Corporation for :the construction of a South Shore (Chicago) and South Bend railroad siding between the property line and curb on Orange Street from Brookfield Street to O',Brien Street. Permission granted subject to the condi- tions as outlined in a letter to the Board from Traffic Engineer as follows: 1. That plan "B" dated April 109, 1956 be adopted. 2. That automatic or manuel protection be provided where the train would cross to and from the main track and the proposed siding. 3. That in the event it is deemed advisable to relocate or remove the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad tracks from the on -street location between Meade Street and downtown South Bend, the O'Brien Corporation would, if necessary, relinquish their rights to said sidingv Traffic Engineer, Ernest H. Miller, recommends the following sign installations: Yield Right/Way Signs installed on northeast corner of Rum Village Park Road at Ewing Avenue; Stop sign installed on South Street, both sides, at sunnyside, making this a 4-way Stop; Stop sign installed on Olive Street, both sides, at Elwood, making this a 4-way stop; Stop sign installed on O'Brien Street, both sides at Kel Street; Stop sign installed on Vernon Street, both sides, at Donald Street; Stop Sign installed on north west corner of Clyde and Donald and Yield Right/Way sign installed on southeast corner of same; Stop sign installed on Marine Street, both sides, at Donald Street; Stop sign in5�alled on Fremont Street, both sid at Linden Street; Stop Sign installed on Fremont Street, both sides, 4 Kenwood; Stop Sign installed on northwest corner of Fremont Street at Bertrand and Yield Right/Way sign on southeast corner of same; Yieli Right/Way sign installed on southwest corner of Scenic Drive at Lombardy Drive; Stop sign installed on northwest corner of Gladstone at Sample; Yield Right/Way sign installed on southeast corner of same; Yieli Right/Way sign installed on Scenic Drive at Ford Street southeast corner; Stop sign installed on southeas- corner of Parkway at Sample and Yield Fight/Wpy sign on northwest corner of same. Miss Alice Koscyk appeared before the Board on'behalf of a group in the vicinity of Indiana Avenue t request permission to hold a street dance in the 2100 block of Indiana Avenue between Warren Street and Ca lisle Street from 8 to 11 P.M. for the benefit of the Storyland Zoo. Permission granted. September 15. Clerk of the Board is directed to notify the Street, Department, Traffice Engineer, and Traffic Department of the Police Department. The Board is now informed that the City Engineering Department is preparing plans and Specifications of Angela Boulevard on the northside from Riverside Drive to Woodward Avenue for a sidewalk. - This being the date set, hearing was held on the matter of the condemnation order sent to Sandy Thoma 1217 South Bend Avenue. Said Thomas is hereby given permission to re -construct the said frame building�on his property providing that his carpenter contact Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner, as to the building requirements as set out in the Building Code of the City of South Bend. Hearing is continued until October Also a nuisance abatement will be`discussed at the October 11 1956 hearing. The Clerk of the Board is directed to proceed with the removal of trees, stumps, and debris from with the South side of Laport Avenue from Linden Avenue to Walnut Street; East side of Walnut Street from Linde Avenue to Colfax Avenue and one large oak located within the grounds of the City Cemetery. Also place walk back to present level for the total sum of $995.00 as per proposal of Ben Sanders of the Lincoln Landscape and Tree Service. The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to contact Mr. Schweitzer, County Court House, with refer ence to his request to purchase from the City Lot No. 22 Block 169 Range 1 East in the City Cemetery. Mary Kimble Fields who is the owner of said lot now gives permission to the Sexton of the City Cemetery to sell to the City the Lot for the price of $25.00 each for 2 graves located on the Lot. Claim and deed will foll this authorization, and request for said purchase by Mr. Schweitzer is now approved. --The Assessment Roll No. 2772, 1956 on 29th Street from Northlide of Northside Boulevard to south line of Pleasant Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2831, 1956 was approved by the Board. Notices inviting sealed bids for the construction of Class "A" Type 1 Pavement, and other work inci- identil thereto, on INDIANA AVENUE from the East Property Line of Catalpa Avenue to the West Property line jof Michigan Street, Under Contract No. 2; and also for the construction of Class "A" Type 1 Pavement, and ;other work incidental thereto, on INDIANA AVENUE from the centerline of Prairie Avenue to the East property of Catalpa Avenue to the West Property Line of Michigan Street, under Contract No. 1 were published on the 7th and 14th days of September, 1956 and bids will be received with reference to same on the 17th day of liSeptember, 1956. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2831 NOTICE OF.:HEARING SPECIAL BENEFITS ON PAVEMENT & CURB IMPROVEMENT Notice is hereby given that the following Improvement has been completed and the general character the improvement, the street, alley or public place on which it has been made, and the terminal points th are as follows: Class "C" Type 1 (6" Concrete) pavement and Portland Cement Concrete Curbs on 29th Street from the South line of Pleasant Street to the North line of Northside Boulevard. There is on file in the Office of the City Controller of the City of South Bend, Indiana, an assess- ment roll with the names of the owners and description of property subject to be assessed with the amount of.the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the Office of said City Controller. The Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, at the Office of South Bend, Indiana, Board of Works, will on the 17th day of September, 19561, at 9:00 A.M.
