516 <br />The following plans for sewer were approved and signed by the Board: Scenie Drive and Clearview P1. <br />as submitted by the engineers of the Colpaert Realty Corporation. <br />Appearing before the Board of Public Works & Safety was Mr. J. McCarthy, O'Brien Corporation, and <br />Francis Jones, Attorney for said corporation with reference to the request of the O'Brien Corporation for <br />:the construction of a South Shore (Chicago) and South Bend railroad siding between the property line and <br />curb on Orange Street from Brookfield Street to O',Brien Street. Permission granted subject to the condi- <br />tions as outlined in a letter to the Board from Traffic Engineer as follows: <br />1. That plan "B" dated April 109, 1956 be adopted. <br />2. That automatic or manuel protection be provided where the train would cross to and from the <br />main track and the proposed siding. <br />3. That in the event it is deemed advisable to relocate or remove the Chicago South Shore and <br />South Bend Railroad tracks from the on -street location between Meade Street and downtown <br />South Bend, the O'Brien Corporation would, if necessary, relinquish their rights to said <br />sidingv <br />Traffic Engineer, Ernest H. Permission granted. September 15. <br />Clerk of the Board is directed to notify the Street, Department, Traffice Engineer, and Traffic Department <br />of the Police Department. <br />The Board is now informed that the City Engineering Department is preparing plans and Specifications <br />of Angela Boulevard on the northside from Riverside Drive to Woodward Avenue for a sidewalk. - <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the matter of the condemnation order sent to Sandy Thoma <br />1217 South Bend Avenue. Said Thomas is hereby given permission to re -construct the said frame building�on <br />his property providing that his carpenter contact Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner, as to the building <br />requirements as set out in the Building Code of the City of South Bend. Hearing is continued until October <br />Also a nuisance abatement will be`discussed at the October 11 1956 hearing. <br />The Clerk of the Board is directed to proceed with the removal of trees, stumps, and debris from with <br />the South side of Laport Avenue from Linden Avenue to Walnut Street; East side of Walnut Street from Linde <br />Avenue to Colfax Avenue and one large oak located within the grounds of the City Cemetery. Also place walk <br />back to present level for the total sum of $995.00 as per proposal of Ben Sanders of the Lincoln Landscape <br />and Tree Service. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to contact Mr. Schweitzer, County Court House, with refer <br />ence to his request to purchase from the City Lot No. 22 Block 169 Range 1 East in the City Cemetery. Mary <br />Kimble Fields who is the owner of said lot now gives permission to the Sexton of the City Cemetery to sell <br />to the City the Lot for the price of $25.00 each for 2 graves located on the Lot. Claim and deed will foll <br />this authorization, and request for said purchase by Mr. Schweitzer is now approved. <br />--The Assessment Roll No. 2772, 1956 on 29th Street from Northlide of Northside Boulevard to south line <br />of Pleasant Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2831, 1956 was approved by the Board. <br />Notices inviting sealed bids for the construction of Class "A" Type 1 Pavement, and other work inci- <br />identil thereto, on INDIANA AVENUE from the East Property Line of Catalpa Avenue to the West Property line <br />jof Michigan Street, Under Contract No. 2; and also for the construction of Class "A" Type 1 Pavement, and <br />;other work incidental thereto, on INDIANA AVENUE from the centerline of Prairie Avenue to the East property <br />of Catalpa Avenue to the West Property Line of Michigan Street, under Contract No. 1 were published on the <br />7th and 14th days of September, 1956 and bids will be received with reference to same on the 17th day of <br />liSeptember, 1956. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2831 <br />NOTICE OF.:HEARING SPECIAL BENEFITS ON PAVEMENT & CURB IMPROVEMENT <br />Notice is hereby given that the following Improvement has been completed and the general character <br />the improvement, the street, alley or public place on which it has been made, and the terminal points th <br />are as follows: <br />Class "C" Type 1 (6" Concrete) pavement and Portland Cement Concrete <br />Curbs on 29th Street from the South line of Pleasant Street to the <br />North line of Northside Boulevard. <br />There is on file in the Office of the City Controller of the City of South Bend, Indiana, an assess- <br />ment roll with the names of the owners and description of property subject to be assessed with the amount <br />of.the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the Office of said City Controller. <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, at the Office of South Bend, Indiana, Board of <br />Works, will on the 17th day of September, 19561, at 9:00 A.M.
