A letter was received from the Ridge Company requesting permission to convert <br />their company parking lot into a self-service parking lot between the hours of 530 P.M. <br />and 2:00 A.M. The Board now orders the Ridge Company to make application according to <br />Chapter 19, of the City Ordinance. <br />The Board next recognized Irvin Jandowski representing V.F.W. Post 3194, who <br />requested permission to have Grant Street closed between Ford and Huron Streets on the <br />nights of July 13, 14, and 15, 1956 from 6:30 P.M. till 1:00 A.M. for their annual street: <br />dance. Permission granted and the Clerk of the Board was ordered to so notify the Traffic <br />Engineer. <br />George A. Schock submitted to the Board, on behalf of the Fattore Company, Es <br />timates No. 23 and 24, prepared by Consoer, Townsend, and Associates, under date of April <br />20, 1956. <br />A certificate of insurance for C. Harry Swanson, Inc. was submitted to the Board <br />'which covers the moving of temporary warehouse on the southeast corner of Ironwood Drive' <br />and Colfax Avenue. The Board approves the certificate with the understanding that said <br />warehouse be removed by December 31, 1956 and that the premises on which the warehouse is; <br />located be left in the same condition as it was in the beginning. <br />Request from H. W. Hunter, Plymouth, Indiana that Hamilton Electric Service do' <br />the electrical work under subcontract for the Sewage Lift Station No. 16 for Contract No. <br />7A was approved by the Board. <br />The Board approved the purchasing of the 10ft. strip of land along Olive Street <br />by the City. <br />Contract Supplement No. 1 was submitted to the Board by the H. ULT. Hunter Co., <br />of Plymouth, Indiana for Contract No. 7A dated April 16, 1956. <br />A petition was received from Stanley Roberts, et al to improve Meade Street <br />from Elwood Avenue north to Bulla Street by the construction of a sanitary sewer according <br />to the Barrett Law Plan. Referred to the City Engineer. <br />CD <br />A petition was received from Rollin J. DeFord et al to improve Elmer Street <br />from Keller Street to Bulla Street by the construction of a permanent type of pavement <br />according to the Barrett Law Plan. Referred to the City Engineer. <br />j: A petition was received from Julius J. Junek et al to improve Sibley Street from <br />College Street to Brookfield Street by the construction of permanent type pavement accord`- <br />`ing to Barrett Law Plan. Referred to the City Engineer. <br />A petition was received from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Iv"cLain et al to improve Doug- <br />las Street from Ewing Street to Donald Street by the construction of a local sanitary sew'- <br />er according to the Barrett Law Plan. Referred to the City Engineer. <br />A petition was received from John Wrzesien et al to improve Napier Street from <br />Kaley Street to Meade Street by the construction of Class "C" Type III pavement according; <br />to the Barrett Law Plan. Referred to the City Engineer. <br />A petition was received asking for the vacation of: 1. The First north and <br />;`south alley West of Logan Street south of Northside Blvd. in the City of South Bend, and <br />2. Thirty-sixth Street south of Northside Blvd. in the City of South Bend, and 3. the <br />first north and south alley 'Nest of Thirty-sixth Street south to Northside Blvd., in the <br />City of South Bend, and was referred to the City Plan Commission for their investigation <br />'and recommendation. <br />Captain Churchill of the Salvation Army reauested permission to conduct a street <br />meeting on the night of May 5, at 7:00 P.M. at the furthest parking meter north adjacent'! <br />to Robertson Brothers Store. Request granted. <br />Stop signs were installed at the southwest corner of Bulla'Street at Portage <br />:Avenue and on Anderson Street, both sides, at Kinvon Street. <br />Contractorts bonds in the sum of ","1000 were approved for Elmer H. Kobold and <br />John G. Steinhoffer. <br />Young Keating & Supply Company requested permission to Dark a bus at 312 E. <br />'Wayne Street for the exhibition of pumps. <br />L <br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC VORKS <br />AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,IND. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana <br />has found that many street in the City of South Bend have deteriorated and have become de- <br />;fective to a great and serious extent, and accordingly have created an emergency requiring <br />.immediate construction, re -construction and improvement of said streets; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend finds <br />,that the construction, re -construction and improvement of such streets in necessary �n or, <br />- <br />,der to protect the safety and well-being of the citizens of said City and will be of gen-! <br />eral benefit t.o. the entire City; and, <br />• <br />is <br />• <br />
