Permission granted. <br />Danny Richardson now requests permission from the Board for Mr. Eger and himself to at <br />tend the Purdue University Road School program. Said school program being held between <br />the 2nd and 6th days of April, 1956. Permission granted. <br />Mr. Earl Kuntz, 2909 South Michigan Street appeared before the Board with reference to <br />the condition of Woodside Blvd. and Michigan Street. Mr. Kuntz appeared before the Board <br />on a prior ocassion in 1955 at shich time attention was called to the correction Woodside <br />Blvd. and Michigan St. At said time, the Board took action to handle the correction of <br />said corner and to this date has not been corrected. The Board now having heard the re- <br />sults took the following action; The City Engineer was requested to contact the proper- <br />ty owner and ask that he come to the Board before the Board in reference to said problem, <br />on Monday, April 2, 1956. <br />A petition was received for the improvement of the alley from the 1100 block on Foster <br />Street to St. Joseph St. and from St. Vincent Street to the intersection of Foster -St. <br />Joseph alley by the construction of conerete(Asphalt Alternate) according to law. Referred <br />to City Engineer. <br />A petition was received for the improvement of Gertrude Street from Prairie Avenue to <br />City Limits by the construction of .Class C Pavement according to law. Referred to City <br />Engineer. <br />Special Police Officer bonds were approved for Joseph J. Horvath and Alphonse Zack. <br />Ernest H. Miller, Traffic Engineer, submitted to the Board his report on the Council <br />Resolution adopted February 27, 1956, requesting investigation of traffic conditions and <br />conditions of South Shore rails and pavement on LaSalle Street between Lincoln Way West <br />and Main Street. Accepted and filed. <br />An.excavation bond in the sum of $1000 was approved for John Lineback & Son, Plumbing <br />and Heating Company. <br />This being the date set for the bids for the Street Department gravel, and no bids hav- <br />ing been received the Clerk of the Board was authorized to purchase the materials. <br />H. W. Hunter, Contractor, requested permission to set date from March 5, 1956 to Apri <br />1956 to begin work on the Sewage Lift Station under Contract No. 7 A. Permission grant <br />C. Harry Swanson, Inc. requested permission to locate a temporary warehouse on a plat <br />of City -owned land. Permission granted with the following conditions: 1. that sai-a 'temp <br />orary warehouse will be removed by September 1, 1956, 2. that C. Harry Swanson, Inc. pos <br />with the City indemnity insurance holding the City free and harmless of any damage to per <br />sons, property, or equipment located on said City -owned lot, 3. that you agree to leave <br />the premises in a clean and sightly condition after such temporary warehouse is removed. <br />Plans for the sidewalk vault on 120 S. Michigan and 312 W. Colfax was accepted by the <br />Board and filed. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION CONFIRMED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2829, 1956 <br />For the improvement of Woodlawn Blvd. (Lots 373, 374, and 375 only) from Inglewood Blvd. <br />to the existing manhole at Lot #372., under Improvement Resolution No. 2829, 1956, adopt- <br />ed March 5, 1956 by constructing a local combined sewer. <br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and being fully advised on the uremiso's <br />.and the Clerk of the Board having shown proofs of publication of the notices to property 11 <br />owners and the same having been found sufficient, the Board decides that the benefits to <br />the property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost <br />of the same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana; <br />:tha.t Improvement Resolution No. 2829, 1956, duly passed by this Board on March 5, 1956, <br />''for the above improvement, be and the same is hereby in all things confirmed (First Con- <br />1firmation, March 26, 1956) and the improvement is hereby ordered to be made. <br />R. Ing- <br />;old, Superintendent of the New York Central Railroad, requesting that a flagman be sta- <br />tioned at the Riverside Drive crossing on the tracks adjacent to the Angela Boulevard <br />�jBridge to lead the train across the crossing. <br />
