426 <br />This being the date set for hearing on the petition of Northern Indiana Transit,' <br />Inc. for an increase in rates, hearing was held. Present were Nicholas Cholis, Attorney <br />I for Northern Indiana Transit, Inc, and John T. Martin, President, and Par ron Anderson, • <br />representing Northern Indiana Transit., -Inc. Mr. Cholis presented proof of publication <br />of notice from the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News, and also an affidavit of <br />posting of notices in 13 public places in the City of South Bend, Indiana. The original,, <br />petition was dated December 7th, 1955• <br />Comes now Carl Findlay, 1031 Georgiana Avenue, to protest against an increase it <br />I rates as petitioned for. He stated that he is a constant rider of t1.e busses and the <br />increase in rates would be in effect a 20% increase for him. <br />William R. Planning <br />commission recommends it highly. Referred to Mr. Andrysiak. <br />Board recognizes William Morris, 1222 Chalfant Street. Submits letter accompan- <br />ied by petition with 503 signatures, 24 pages for non-seeration of bus driver employees. <br />Petition referred to common council. <br />Dennis Powers, representing 1956 Mardi Gras Carnival at Notre Dame asks per- <br />mission for spot to display new Buick. Referred to Chief of Police. <br />Board recognizes Dan Richardson, Street Commissioner. Richardson asks to ad- <br />vertise for 1500 tons of rock salt. They now have 80 ton on hand. Board suggests to <br />advertise for 1000 tons or less. Advertising to be held off until January 30, 1956. i <br />i <br />Clerk of Board directed to advertise for 5002000 gallons or less of liquid bi- <br />tuminous asphalt. Ap}3roved. <br />Board approved bids to purchase desk, chair, lamp at price of $259.87 net for <br />Street Department. I' <br />The Clerk of the Board was ordered to advertise for new chassis for Studebaker 1I. <br />Flusher for Sewer Department. Held up pending discussion with Mr. Andrysiak, City Engin"er. <br />
