426 <br />A request from Mr. Miller that Yield Right Of Way signs be installed at the <br />southwest corner of Huey Street on Bergan Street was approved by the Board. <br />BUSSES <br />This being the date set for hearing on the petition of Northern Indiana Transit,; <br />Inc. for an increase in rates, hearing was held. Present were Nicholas Cholis, Attorney <br />for Northern Indiana Transit, Inc, and John T. Martin, President, and Parron Anderson, <br />representing Northern Indiana Transit,-In.c. Mr.' Cholis presented proof of publication <br />of notice from. the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News, and also an affidavit of <br />posting of notices in 13 public places in the City of South Bend, Indiana. The original <br />petition was dated December 7th, 1955• <br />Comes now Carl Findlay, 1031 Georgiana Avenue, to protest against an increase iri <br />rates as petitioned for. He stated that he is a constant rider of tYe busses and the <br />increase in rates would be in effect a,_-20% increase for him. <br />William R. Morris, 1222 E. Chalfont Street also appeared but as his complaint <br />did not have to do with the increase in rates he was advised to consult with the officials <br />of Northern Indiana Transit, Inc. <br />After hearing discussion on the petition the Board took the matter under advise-" <br />ment and will make a finding on or before the 30th day of January, 1956. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was ad- <br />journed at 10:30 A.M. <br />C�7�.ctir <br />Attest <br />Clerk % <br />JANUARY 16, 1956 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public <br />at 10:00. Submits letter accompan <br />led by petition with 503 signatures, 24 pages for non-seeration of bus driver employees.'; <br />Petition referred to common council. <br />Dennis Powers, representing 1956 Mardi Gras Carnival at Notre Dame asks per- <br />mission for spot to display new Buick. Referred to Chief of Police. <br />. l <br />Board recognizes Dan Richardson, Street Commissioner. Richardson asks to ad- <br />vertise for 1500 tons of rock salt. They now have 80 ton on hand. Board suggests to <br />advertise for 1000 tons or less. Advertising to be held off until January 30, 1956. <br />I <br />Clerk of Board directed to advertise for 5002000 gallons or less of liquid bi- <br />tuminous asphalt. Approved. <br />Board approved bids to purchase desk, chair, lamp at price of$259.87 net for <br />i Street Department. <br />The Clerk of the Board was ordered to advertise for new chassis for Studebaker <br />Flusher for Sewer Department.
