Morfoot, under date of <br />September 10, 1955, addressed to Mayor John A. Scott, and, in the matter of the possible <br />.need for traffic signals at the intersection -of Madison and Eddy Streets, referred this <br />suggestion to Traffic Engineer, E. 11. Miller for investigation and report. <br />The Board next considered the Traffic Engineer's need for four two-way three -section <br />:traffic signal heads and nine one-way two -section traffic signal heads, approved the <br />purchase of this equipment and directed the Clerk to proceed accordingly. <br />I <br />The Board then approved the installation of YIELD RIGHT OF WAY signs at each of <br />;'the following locations: <br />i <br />Northwest corner of Ford at Sample Street <br />Southeast corner of Canterbury at Elwood Avenue <br />Northwest corner of Sussex Drive at Ardmore Trail <br />Both sides of Marine Street at Bowman. - <br />Excavation Bond in the sum of $1,000.00 was examined and approved for Goheen <br />Plumbing and Heating Co., Inc. <br />Contractor's Bond in the sum of $1,000.00 was examined and approved for Floyd <br />J. Wachowiak. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:55 A. M. <br />Attest: <br />Clerk <br />0081-10-511101.1 <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />September 15, 1955 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, <br />September 15, 1955, for the purpose of awarding contracts for street improvements on <br />Olive Street, Etiving Avenue and Miami Street. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent. <br />Upon recommendation by the consulting engineer, the Board awarded the contract <br />for the widening of Olive Street from Western Avenue to Washington, (west side only) to <br />McIntyre & Jones, as they submitted the lowest and best bid. <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Company was awarded the contract for the paving of <br />Ewing Avenue, from Michigan Street to Franklin Street, as their bid was the lowest and <br />best bid submitted. <br />The bid of Rieth-Riley Construction Company for the construction of hot asphaltic <br />concrete re -surfacing of Miami Street, from Ireland Road to Ridgedale Road, was <br />accepted by the Board and contract awarded accordingly. <br />The Board then gave -further consideration to the matter of the construction of <br />a re-inforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement on Sample Street, from Falcon Street <br />to Kentucky Street, and authorized the Clerk to proceed with the required advertising <br />for bids. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:15 A.
