<br />I The Board examined Certificates of Insurance for Santucci"Con truction Company,
<br />from McManus & Pellouchoud Inca Insurance Counselors, Chicago, Illinois, in accordance
<br />;with their new Workmen's Compensation and General Liability insurance program, effective
<br />'ias of May 25, 1955- These are to replace Policies No. WC-4-826262-55"and LB-4826162-55 I
<br />of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, which were cancelled as of May 25, 1955, as per letter
<br />I dated June 1, 1955. The Board approved same and ordered them placedon file with contract
<br />idocuments for Santucci Construction Company.
<br />A group of property owners from the neighborhood of McNamara Trucking Company parking;
<br />:area appeared before the Board, with Mr. John Szoke, 1510 Swigart Street and Mrs. L.
<br />Horvath, 1417 W. Indiana, as spokesmen for the group, complaining of dust condition of
<br />;the parking area. As Mr. George Swiatowy had done nothing to correct this dust condition.
<br />of ter being notified to do so in June, 1954, the group insisted that the Board take further
<br />,action to have this situation remedied.
<br />Since this dust condition has become a health hazard, the Board directed the Clerk
<br />,to notify Mr. Swiatowy by letter, that this condition must be corrected not later than
<br />June 13th or more drastic steps will be taken to relieve this situation. The Board also
<br />ordered Mr. Swiatowy to remove the pile of cinders from the lot directly across from 1510
<br />Swigart Street as this is also a health hazard.
<br />The Board adopted the following resolution:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 100 - SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT ACCESS ROAD
<br />The Board of Public Works adopted a resolution authorizing Consoer,
<br />Townsend & Associates, Consulting engineers, to prepare plans and
<br />specifications for the paving of Riverside Drive from Lathrop Avenue
<br />to the Sewage Treatment Plant Site, as -an access road to the Sewage
<br />Treatment Plant.
<br />The following petitions were received for the improvement of streets by the con-
<br />struction of sanitary sewers:
<br />OAKCREST DRIVE from Sylvan Glen Drive.to 35th Street
<br />SYLVAN GLEN DRIVE from Oakcrest Drive -to McKinley Avenue
<br />DEVONSHIRE DRIVE from Chevy Chase Drive to Windingwood Drive
<br />WILDEMERE DRIVE from Chevy Chase Drive to Windingwood Drive
<br />i WINDINGWOOD DRIVE from Sylvan Glen to-Bercliff Drive
<br />CIEVY CHASE from `aVILDED ERE DRIVE TO DEVONSHIRE DRIVE.
<br />A petition,.dated March 11, 1955, was received by the Board for the improvement of
<br />',the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Fremont Street by construction of pavement, and examined and
<br />referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. -
<br />Petition for the improvement of .the 1600 block of Fremont Street by the construction!'
<br />of pavement, was examined and referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report.
<br />A letter, under date of May 24,'1955, was received from Forest G. Hay, offering to
<br />purchase from the City of South Bend, a strip of land adjacent to and east of the Michigan
<br />Central Railroad's right of way and south of Angella Avenue. This was referred to the
<br />City Engineer for investigation and report.
<br />The Board approved in the installation of third phase green arrow movement to traffic','
<br />signals at Michigan and Washington Street and also -the green arrows control right turn "
<br />From -Michigan west on Washington, right turn from Washington north on Michigan, and left
<br />CD
<br />urn from Michigan west on Washington Street.
<br />Installation of third phase green arrow movement to traffic signals at Michigan and
<br />Tefferson and green arrows control - right turn from Jefferson south on Michigan, "right
<br />;urn from Michigan east on Jefferson and left turn from Michigan east on Jefferson, were
<br />approved by the Board.
<br />The Board approved installation of Stop Sign on Randolph Street on both sides at
<br />obinson Street.
<br />Next appeared before the Board Mr. Tomlinson, requesting permission to advertise
<br />for sealed bids for the sale of miscellaneous iron and steel junk. The Board directed
<br />the Clerk to proceed with the required legal advertising.

<br />Due to an error being discovered in assessment roll for Dunham Street, final hearing
<br />which was scheduled for May 31, 1955, was continued to this date, and error having been
<br />corrected, the Board proceeded with the final hearing.
