SPECIAL MEETING

<br />A special meeting of the Board was held at 9:30 A. M. for the purpose of considering,
<br />the tabulations and recommendation of the consulting engineer; W. S.,Moore, in the
<br />matter" of the awarding of contract for the improvement of Olive Street, from the New
<br />Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Railroad to Western Avenue. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent.
<br />The Board awarded the contract to Rieth-Riley Construction Company on their low
<br />bid of $81,231:45, contingent upon the preparation of contractural documents and
<br />the providing of the required bond.
<br />There being no further business to come before this meeting, the meeting adjourned
<br />at 9:40 A. M.

<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, June 6, 1955, at
<br />10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting and also
<br />special meeting were read and approved. Salary claims, in the total amount of-$39,247.13,

<br />The Board first examined Deed from Singer Manufacturing Company to the City of
<br />South Bend, for land occupied by City Fire Station No. 8, which is as follows:
<br />"THIS INDENTURE :'VITNESSETH: That the SINGER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, a cor-
<br />poration organized and existing" under the laws of the State of New Jersey,
<br />does hereby, in the public interest and for public purposes, Release, Quit -
<br />Claim and Donate to the MUNICIPAL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, St. Joseph County,
<br />Indiana, a parcel of real estate situated in said city and county and bounded
<br />as follows:
<br />Beginning on the West line of Olive Street One Hundred and
<br />Ninety-six (196) feet South of the Southeast corner of Lot
<br />Number One (1) in West End subdivision, thence South eighty
<br />(80) feet, thence West one hundred (100) feet, thence North
<br />Eighty (80) feet, thence East One Hundred (100) feet to the
<br />place of beginning.
