<br />The Board next examined a survey made of property at the rear of No. 5 Fire Station, '!
<br />inquiry having been made as to whether or not the City would consider the sale of this
<br />area. The Board referred drawing of survey to Robert Huff, Director of the City Planning!
<br />Commission, for investigation and report.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION No. 2807
<br />This being the date set, hearing was held on.the assessment roll showing the award
<br />of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of THE ALLEY BETWEEN
<br />LOTS NUMBERED 231 AND 232 IN SUNNYMEDE 1ST ADDITION, FROM THE NORTHERN MOST CORNER OF
<br />LOT uUMBERED 232 TO THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF LOT NUMBERED 231 ON THE NORTH, AND TO THE
<br />NORTH LINE OF SUNNYMEDE AVENUE ON THE SOUTH, under Vacation Resolution No. 2807.
<br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remon-
<br />strances were filed, the G1erk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices
<br />and -same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore finds that the severAl lots
<br />and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll.
<br />The Board, therefore decided to take final action on said asses.sment roll and declares
<br />same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the pro-
<br />ceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments
<br />from the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to
<br />said alley vacation are hereby sustained.
<br />The Board next took up for consideration Contract for Engineering Services between
<br />The City of South Bend, Indiana and Chas. W. Cole & Son, pertaining to the resurfacing
<br />of Sample Street from Grant Street West to Olive Street, (b) Widening, reconstruction,
<br />and resurfacing as required, including sidewalks and curbs, to accomplish a satisfactory
<br />improvement of Eddy Street from Jefferson Street north to South Bend,Avenue.(b-1) On
<br />Eddy Street, noted above, the Engineer is to make necessary surveys, preliminary pro-
<br />posed improvements, and right-of-way requirement sketches on a cost-plus basis, as out-
<br />lined under paragraph 10 for the entire length of Eddy Street from Jefferson Street
<br />north to South Bend Avenue, and present same to the City for determination of the exact
<br />length to be constructed at this time before proceeding with construction plans, and
<br />contract, having been found to be in order, proceeded to affix their signatures thereto.!
<br />The Board next took up for consideration Contract for Engineering Services between
<br />The City of South Bend and William S. Moore, pertaining to all improvements to be con-
<br />structed on Olive Street, from Sample Street to Lincolnway West. Contract having been
<br />found in order in all details, the Board proceeded to affix their signatures thereto. j
<br />The Board next examined and ordered filed, copy of letter addressed to Taylor
<br />Construction Company, under date of January 26, 1955, over the signature of Verner L.
<br />Lane, Building Commissioner, relative to erection of National Food Company building
<br />at 3203 Lincolnway West.
<br />Contractorfs Bond, in the sum of $1,000.00, for Russell B. Penzenik of Mishawaka,
<br />Indiana, was examined and approved.
<br />The Board approved the installation of S-T-O-P Signs as follows:
<br />On Ruskin Street, both sides, at Bellevue Street
<br />On Washington Street, both sides, at Twyckenham Drive
<br />On Northeast corner of Rupel Street at Johnson Street.
<br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
