<br />The first matter taken up was that
<br />of an applicant
<br />for Taxicab Driverts License.
<br />Police report on this applicant indicated
<br />four
<br />arrests and application was, accordingly
<br />denied and referred to the Board. The'Board
<br />directed
<br />the Clerk to notify applicant o
<br />be present at 9: 00 A. 1f. CST., 1Tonday,
<br />January-
<br />17, 1955, at 'which time it will
<br />be
<br />determined whether or not license shall
<br />be granted.
<br />!' The Board next considered the need
<br />for a new
<br />ten -column automatic calculator,
<br />with automatic ;_ult-iplication and division,
<br />and
<br />with automatic division alignment for
<br />use by the Barrett Lave Clerk, City Treasurerls
<br />Office. 'Funds having been appropriated
<br />to meet this need, the Board directed
<br />the Clerk
<br />to proceed with the necessary
<br />legal
<br />advertising.
<br />Then appeared before the Board, Clifford Richard, President of Physically Handicapped,
<br />Inc., making plea for retention of the news-stand operated by George Yeich. Considerabld"
<br />discussion ensued, the 3oard insisting that this news-stand is ob jectionabl_e and must
<br />be removed from the site not later than Parch 1, 1955. it was pointed out, however, to
<br />Yr. Richard, in setting the date of 1;Tarch 1, 1955, the Board had been exceedingly
<br />lenient and felt it was providing ample time in which r=r. Yeich could make his future
<br />plans, or attempt to obtain withdrawal of the complaints _registered against the main-
<br />taining of this news-stand in its present location. The discussion ended at this
<br />juncture.
<br />Councilman Glass, being present, took up with the Board the non-compliance of Ham
<br />the Wrecker with the ordinance governing; the operation and >ma.intaining of junk yards
<br />within the City limits. The Board directed the Clerk to notify 1;11r. Ham to appear
