Before taking <br />,further steps in the matter, the Board directed the Clerk to contact both Engineer <br />,Leo A. Witucki, and the City Engineer, to ascertain that the necessary public utility <br />easements have been secured. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2785 <br />The Board next examined a letter of remonstrance submitted by Mrs. Henry J. Soboleski, <br />in re: Closing the alley between McPherson and Laurel Streets, running approximately <br />1341_south from Thomas Street, under Vacation Resolution No. 2785. Before further steps <br />':will be taken by the Board in this matter, the Clerk was directed to provide Attorney <br />'Peter F. Nemeth with written notice of this remonstrance, and request that Attorney <br />Nemeth obtain the withdrawal of remonstrance by providing satisfactory assurance to the <br />`' owner of Lot No. 11, with regard to hard -surfacing, and control of traffic. Hearing <br />!scheduled for this date was, accordingly, deferred. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />• Street Commissioner, H. M. Tomlinson, then appeared before the Board and brought <br />to the Board's attention the urgency of proceeding with the repair of the sidewalk, <br />curbing and roadway of the Ironwood Drive Bridge. Considerable discussion ensued, <br />.;and in view of bridge being one-half owned by, and the maintenance responsbility being <br />:proportionately that of the City of Mishawaka, the Board directed the City Engineer to <br />'provide the City Engineer of Mishawaka with a set of blue -prints and copy of proposal <br />'for the current repair program, and to meet with the City Engineer of Mishawaka to <br />establish a definite understanding and agreement with the City of Mishawaka before <br />'proceeding with this project, estimated to cost approximately $18,000.00. <br />A communication forwarded by the Common Council for the attention of the Board, <br />bearing date of July 12, 1954, was read and ordered filed. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />The Board approved the installation of the following S-T-O-P and YIELD RIGHT OF <br />WAY signs: <br />STOP SIGNS - Installed on northeast, southeast and northwest <br />corners of Notre Dame and Angela Boulevard, making <br />this a four-way stop. <br />Installed on both sides of 23rd Street at Wall Street <br />• Installed on both sides of 27th Street at Wall Street <br />Installed on both sides of Marine Street at :Fox Street <br />YIELD RIGHT OF WAY SIGN installed on Elwood Avenue at Eclipse Street. <br />Excavation Bond, in the sum of $5,000.00, binding McIntyre & Jones, as principal, <br />and Indemnity Insurance Company of North America, as sureties, was examined and approved <br />by the Board. <br />Excavation Bond, in the sum of $20000.00, binding Burton Plumbing -Heating Company, <br />Inc. Rochester, Indiana, as principal, and Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company as <br />• sureties, was examined and approved by the Board. <br />Four Contractorts Bonds, each in the sum of 013000.00, were examined and approved <br />by the Board for the following contractors: <br />Paul E. Baumgartner <br />Thomas Hruszynski <br />Joseph Price <br />John W. Smith. <br />There being no further business to come before the meeting, and the time being <br />11:20 A. M. D.S.T., the meeting adjourned. <br />- SupplementAl-to, and to be included as a part of the minutes of the regular meeting <br />of the Board, this date, is the following report: <br />Members of the Board of Public Works and Safety, Mr. I. A. Hurwich, Mr. J. A. Bickel; <br />and Mr. R. S. Andrysiak, visited the display of brick sample panels on exhibition at <br />the City's Construction office at the Sewage Disposal Plant at 12:15 otclock today. <br />Each member made five individual choices, then the various tastes and factors were <br />coincided and compromised until the choice unanimously boiled down to the panel display <br />of Schuyler Rose, labeled as 901 smooth grey on the display raek,and labeled as 914 <br />.smooth grey on rear side of panel. <br />At approximately 2:00 otclock this afternoon, a committee composed of three women <br />
