<br />The Clerk_ of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remon-
<br />strators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk,
<br />it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally
<br />adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to
<br />prepare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of damages
<br />to the surrounding properties.
<br />The Board next examined and approved canopy for store front, 110 Wrest Washington
<br />Avenue, per drawing submitted by Roseland Construction Company.
<br />The Board then took note of failure to obtain the removal of advertising signs
<br />located on public property, in accord with the Board's action in -regular meeting of
<br />April 19, 1954, and of the fact that the violator has since erected additional signs
<br />in contempt of the Board's removal order. The Chairman of the Board, at this juncture
<br />contacted the office of the violator, Belleville Lumber Company, by telephone and
<br />the signs will be removed from public property by noon this date.
<br />A letter from City Collection Service, 100 Sycamore Street, Anderson, Indiana,
<br />d under date of June 10, 1954, was read by the Board and the Clerk directed to reply
<br />that our present garbage removal method of operation is proceeding satisfactorily, and
<br />directed that this correspondence be 'retainedon file.
<br />Agreement to be entered into between the 1,111Unicipal City of South Bend and the St.
<br />Joseph Bank and Trust Company, in the matter of the installation of a Civil Defense
<br />siren, was next examined and approved by the Board.
<br />The time now being 11 otclock as set by legal advertising for the opening of bids
<br />to provide a station wagon for the Cnnstruction Inspector, Sewage Treatment Plant,
<br />the Chairman of the Board so announced and proceeded, as follows:
