Werntz & Son 4:20 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />An opportunity for the advantageous purchase of a truck needed by the Street <br />Department was first given the attention of the Board. Authorization was then given <br />by the Board for the release of Purchase Order SD4912, accordingly. <br />Copy of Certificate of Plans and Specifications for the Sewage Treatment Plant, <br />I <br />} bearing the seal of Professional Engineer, J. R. Swanton, under date of December 17, <br />�1953, was examined and ordered placed on file. <br />�1 <br />it TRAFFIC DEPARTP,ENT: <br />�i Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, brought to the attention of the j <br />jBoard, a blueprint showing proposed alterations to be made by the H. G. Christman. <br />" <br />Construction Company to the loading dock of the Radio Equipment Company. The Board <br />i <br />examined the blueprint and tentatively approved the proposed alterations. <br />i <br />It now being 11:00 ofclock, the time set in the legal advertising for the opening <br />" <br />of the bids to provide new trucks required by the Street Department, it was so announced, <br />and the results were as follows: <br />' <br />SC BERMAN -SC HAUS -FREE MAN CO. A Certified Check for $596.43 <br />� <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA accompanied the bid: <br />�I <br />2 - Ford F600 - 130" M ael Base 8 cylinder <br />equipped as per specifications in <br />I proposal.............................03675.95 $7351.90 <br />Less Trade In Allowance on Y units 1387.58 <br />I 7767• 3 ii <br />' Examination of this bid revealed failure to properly execute the <br />-required non -collusion affidavit, and this bid was thereupon -rejected. ! <br />f <br />The Board together with. Streeet Commissioner, H. M. Tomlinson, rechecked the i <br />jitemiz-ed equipment to be supplied with the trucks, in accordance with the proposal <br />of Scherman-Sch.aus-Freeman Company and this listing being found sufficient and in <br />.order, the Board accepted this bid and signed the contract. <br />I <br />Excavation Bonds, each in the sum of '1,000.00, binding Arthur IN. Deppert, as <br />i princ i.pa:l , and The Western Casualty & Surety Company, as sureties; and Anthony Swiatot^ry <br />;anal George W. Schwind, d/b/a United Heating & Plumbing Company, as principal and The <br />:Fidelity and Casualty Compan; of New York, as sureties, respectively, were examined <br />land approved by the Board. <br />The Street Commissioner discussed with the Board a continuation of complaints <br />;'concerning an inlet at 1848 E. Campeau Street. In view of the fact that no serious <br />"bu.-Lap" is caused by this inlet, and the very considerable expense that would be involve) <br />in re -locating same, the consensus of opinion of the Board was that the Commissioner <br />should continue to ignore these complaints. <br />
