Pawlowski, presenting the peti- <br />tion of George Ashcraft, to sell, transfer'and assign Taxicab License No. 53, granted <br />to him :by the Board, to the United Cab Company of South Bend, Inc. The Board denied <br />the petition under Section 64, Chapter 26 of the Municipal Code. <br />In the matter of claim, submitted by John J. DeGrove, for $25.00 damage to clothing; <br />caused by unmarked freshly painted Bus Stop sign, the Board directed the Clerk to <br />request Mr. DeGrove to submit the clothing for the Boardts inspection, to enable them <br />to decide as to justification of this claim. <br />The Board next examined agreement between the State of Indiana, through the State <br />Highway Department, and the City of South Bend, pertaining to the modernizing of the <br />traffic signal equipment at the following intersections: <br />Michigan(US 31) and North Shore Drive (US 33) <br />Walnut and Western Avenue (SR 2) <br />Lincolnway West (US 20) and Blaine <br />Lincolnway West (US20) and Cushing Street <br />Lincolnway West (US 20) and Williams Street <br />Lincolnway East (US33) and Sample Street <br />Lincolnway East (US 33) and Twyckenham Drive <br />Michigan (US 31) and Calvert Street <br />Michigan (US 31) and Indiana Avenue <br />Michigan (US 31) and Broadway <br />Michigan (US 31) and Sample Street <br />Western (SR 2) and Williams Street <br />Western (SR 2) and Chapin Street <br />This agreement, submitted to the Mayor, by M. C. Pbhlkotte, Director of Traffic, <br />State Highway Department, was, thereupon, duly signed by the Board as authorized <br />officials for the City of South Bend. <br />The Board next approved the installation of S-T-O-P signs at the following <br />locations: <br />Donmoyer Street at Fellows ( making this a 4-way stop). <br />Huey at Humboldt <br />South side of Ford Street just west of Lombardy Drive. <br />Excavator's Bonds, each in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined and approved by <br />the Board, binding John B. Hendricks, Arthur C. Rogers, and their sureties. <br />Contractorts Bonds, each in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined and approved by <br />the Board, binding Kenneth F. Rose, d/b/a Red Rose Builder, The Singer Manufacturing <br />Company,and their sureties. <br />Copy of a letter from the District Engineer of the State Highway Department, <br />Fort Wayne, Indiana, under date of October 29, 1953, governing the issuance of commercial <br />driveway permits, was read and ordered placed on file. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned'", <br />at 11:10 A.
