Niles Excavating Co. 580.00 Niles Excavating Co. 642.50 <br />The Board first examined a petition filed by the Bendix Aviation Corporation, dated <br />;September 11, 1953, to vacate Kaley Street, from Bertrand Street to Kenwood Avenue, and <br />;referred this petition to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. <br />A petition filed by the Bendix Aviation Corporation, dated September 11, 1953, and <br />,,bearing in addition the signatures of Frank Szarwark, Agnes Szarwark, and Margaret <br />1Hawkins, to vacate the alley between Kaley Street and Meade Street; only that part of <br />;;the alley which abutts Lots 125, 126 and 127, and Lots 82, 83 and 84 of Kaleyts 1st and <br />2nd subdivisions to the City of South Bend, Indiana; the alley running east and west ;! <br />;,between Bertrand Street and'Kenwood Avenue, was then examined and referred to the City <br />!'Plan Commission for investigation and recommendation. i <br />3RESOLUTION ADOPTING FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2749 - 1953 <br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and the Clerk of the Board of <br />;;Public Works and Safety having proofs of publication of the notices to property owners <br />'and the same having been found sufficient, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, <br />.;Indiana, that the Primary or Preliminary Assessment Roll adopted by the Board on the <br />��31st day of August 1953, for the improvement of MISHAWAKA AVENUE (north side) by <br />�. <br />3constructing a Class C, Type 4A Bituminous Concrete (AH) Surface Pavement be and the <br />same is in all things confirmed. <br />?' Tomlinson, being present, brought to the attention of <br />the Board the urgency of preparing the rules and regulations governing the collecting <br />,:of garbage under City operation, for the guidance and compliance of householders. The <br />'Commissioner informed the Board that the division of the City into five Sanitary Districts, <br />has been arranged and determined by himself and the foreman of the Sanitation Department, j <br />1. W. Cripe. The Board then requested the Commissioner to consult with Mr. Cripe and <br />,and prepare such rules and regulations as they deem will be required for the operation <br />of the Sanitation Department with a minimum of complaint from the public, and the maximum;, <br />of efficiency, and present these rules and regulations for approval and adoption at the <br />next regular meeting of the Board. It was also agreed that suitable publicity should <br />be given by the press, setting forth these rules and regulations and acquainting the <br />• <br />;public with the Sanitary Districts into which the City is divided, and other information <br />;pertinent to the successful launching of this new municipally operated service. j <br />lj <br />The claim of Niles Excavating Company, dated August 31, 1953, in the amount of <br />$925.00, covering construction of 36" C. M. Pipe Outfall Sewer from the North Shore Drivel <br />;Intercepting Sewer to the St. Joseph River at LaFayette Boulevard, was ordered held in <br />;abeyance, to be presented for payment at a later date. Claim was, accordingly, placed l� <br />;temporarily on file in the office of the Board. <br />This being the time setfor the opening of bids to provide a bull -dozer and a half - <br />'ton pick-up truck for the Sanitation Department, the Chairman of the Board so announced i <br />!and proceeded, as follows: ' <br />• <br />1/2 Ton Pick -Up Truck <br />L11 <br />
