-1-1-719 <br />495 <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />September 10, 1952 <br />I <br />! A Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held in accordance with legal <br />�advertising,Wednesday, September 10, 1952 at 6:30 P. M. CST, for the purpose of a <br />hearing in connection with the following Improvement Resolutions: <br />No. 2732 - Improvement of SWYGART STREET by Class "C" pavement from the <br />north line of Donald Street to the south line of Prairie Avenue. <br />No. 2733 - Improvement of ALLEY BETWEEN IRONWOOD DRIVE AND TWENTY-THIRD STREET <br />from the north 1ine,of Mishawaka Avenue to the south line of Wall <br />Street, by constructing a Class fiCft pavement. <br />No. 2734 - Improvement of FELLOWS STREET from the center line of Donmoyer Avenue <br />to a point 1000 feet south by constructing a local sewer. <br />No. 2735 - Improvement of CHALFANT STREET by Class '"C" pavement from the east <br />line of Arthur Street to the east line of Walsh Street. <br />The meeting was called to order by R. S. Andrysiak, chairman of the Board, at <br />6:30 P.M. <br />Mr. Andrysiak acquainted the group of interested property owners with the purpose <br />of the meeting, and then explained the fundamentals of the Barrett Law and the various <br />steps of the proceedure from the petition of the property owners to final completion <br />and acceptance of the improvement from the contractor concerned. No remonstrance was <br />made against any of the above resolutions. <br />There: being no further questions in regard to the above improvement resolutions, <br />the meeting adjourned. <br />C <br />• I) September 15, 1952 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, September 15, 1952 <br />at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read <br />and approved. Ferguson & Sons <br />77.50 <br />South Bend Tribune <br />6.83 <br />Gafill Oil Co. <br />18.80 <br />• <br />Gafill Oil Co. <br />30.81 <br />INTERCEPTOR SEWER: <br />I Indiana Bell Telephone Co. <br />11.05 <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Co. <br />10.26 <br />Niles Excavating Company <br />$27,010.02 <br />Indiana Bell Telephone Co. <br />9.60 <br />Peltz-Kaufer Paper Co. <br />7.50 <br />The Board first took up the matter of permitting the use of a public address <br />loudspeaker from an automobile to make announcement of a play being given by students <br />of John Adams High School, such announcement and use of loud -speaker to be permitted <br />only in the immediate proximity of Jefferson, Nuner and Lincoln Schools, after the <br />committee representing the student group giving the play, has also secured the additions <br />permission of the principals of these schools. The Board, with the foregoing stipulatio, <br />authorized the use of this equipment for the benefit of this John Adams High School grow <br />in sponsoring the current play, entitled "Summer Is A-Comin", to be given September 18th <br />and in this instance only. <br />The Board next took up the awarding of the contract to supply one -hundred (100) <br />parking meters, and the concensus of opinion being in favor of the proposal of M. H. <br />Rhodes, Inc., the contract was so awarded and the Clerk directed to issue the required <br />purchase order. <br />The matter of the proposals received September 8th by the Board for the constructio <br />of a Class C -Cement Concrete Pavement on SHERMAN AVENUE from the south line of Rose <br />Street to the north line of Bryan Street, was next considered, and the tabul-ttion and <br />recommendation requested of and provided by the engineering firm of Wilbur H. Gartner <br />
