Gartner & Associates, Civil Engineers, reported <br />to the Board Profiles, Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications, Estimates <br />and Preliminary Improvement"Resolution for the improvement -of VASSAR AVENUE FROM the <br />East line of Olive Street to the West line of Elmer Street, AND <br />NAPOLEON BOULEVARD from the East line of Harter Heights Second Addition to the <br />West line of Notre Dame Avenue AND <br />FELLOWS STREET from the South line of Ewing Street to the North line of Altgeld <br />Street AND <br />BULLA STREET from the West line of Portage Avenue to'the West line of Medora <br />Street, South, AND <br />sy„ <br />ALLEY BETWEEN COLLEGE STREET AND ADAMS STREET, from the North. line of Humboldt <br />Street to the South line of First East & West Alley North. <br />The Board approved the reports and passed Improvement Resolutions, authorizing <br />these public improvements, and the 4th day of June, 1952 at the hour of 6:30 P.M. <br />CST is hereby fixed as the time, and the office of the -Board in said City as the <br />place, when and where all persons whose property may be affected by such proposed <br />improvement, may be heard as to the necessity for the same, and all petitions and <br />remonstrances received and the Board will, on said day, decide whether the benefits <br />accruing to abutting and adjacent property, and to the CityofSouth Bend, Indiana <br />will be equal to or exceed the estimated cost of said improvement. 'he' Clerk of the <br />Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two weekly publications, of the time and <br />place of hearing of the following resolutions: <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTIONS NO. 2677, 2714, 2716, 2717 and 2719, adopted this 12th <br />day of May, 1952 and to be published on May 16, and May 23, 1952. <br />Mr. Harold Reinke appeared before the B oard and called attention to construction <br />he will soon have under way on Western Avenue between Maple and McPherson Streets. <br />This is to be a building for the Army and Navy Union, which Mr. Reinke states will be <br />thirty feet back from the present property line. Mr. Reinke mentioned that permit to <br />occupy alley while work proceeds will be needed. <br />�A letter from H. L. Kimble, Division Superintendent, Pennsylvania Railroad, under <br />date of I,Zay 9, 1952, pertaining to the planned deiselization of yard locomotives <br />for their South Bend yards was read by the Board and ordered filed. <br />Contractor's Bonds in the amount of $1,000.00 each were examined and approved by <br />the Board for the following: <br />Nelson & Cleland Construction Company <br />Portage Realty Corporation <br />Peter Schumacher & Sons, Inc. <br />John P. Vrabel <br />I . <br />j An Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000,00 for Earl C. DeVan was examined and <br />approved by the Board. <br />i <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 11:45 A.
