<br />February 20, 1952
<br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Wednesday, February
<br />20, 1952 at 2:30 P. M. All members were present.
<br />A petition having been filed by Northern Indiana Transit, Inc. which sets forth I
<br />a request for change of fares and a showing having been made by said Company, the
<br />the fares permitted to be charged for bus transportation Linder a contract made with
<br />•
<br />the City of South Bend, Indiana on or about the 13th day of May, 1940, as amended by
<br />a contract dated February 13, 1948, and as further amended by a contract dated July 8,
<br />1950, and a request having been made by said Company that it be permitted to charge
<br />rates for services rendered to the public which will be fair and reasonable to all j
<br />parties concerned, and the statutes of Indiana (Sec.1+8-7303 Burns Indiana Statutes,
<br />1950 Repl.) requiring the amendment of said contract to be undertaken in the manner
<br />herein followed, this Board now takes the following action:
<br />This Board, in compliance with said Statute, has tentatively determined the exact
<br />form in which the amendment to said contract is to be finally adopted to be in the
<br />following words and figures:
<br />1�CONTRACT

<br />THIS CONTRACT, made and entered into this day of , 1952, by and
<br />between the City of SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, acting by and through its Board of Public
<br />Works and Safety, hereinafter called the First Party, and NORTHERN Ir3DIANA TRANSIT,INC.,
<br />a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Indiana, its successors and I
<br />assigns, hereinafter called the Second Party.
<br />WITNESSETH:
<br />The parties hereto agree that the certain contract made between the parties and
<br />confirmed by Ordinance of the Common GF,ur cjon�tr�ac�,t�eodf South Bend, onorabout
<br />the 13th day of P,ay, 191}0, as amended" n�o on e ay of February, 1948 between
<br />the parties and thereafter confirmed by the Common Council, and as further amended II by a contract entered into on the 8th day of July, 1950 between the parties and
<br />thereafter confirmed by the Common Council, shall be and is hereby amended in each of
<br />the following respects: ;I
<br />All provisions in said contract, as amended, regarding the 10/ cash fare now
<br />existing are amended as follows, to -wit:
<br />Cash fare . . . . . . . 15¢ -
<br />Token fare .2 tokens for 25� ) •
<br />( Each token giving a passenger the
<br />right to one ride or trip on a bus). !
<br />All provisions in said contract, as amended, regarding the 5� school fare, and
<br />as regarding transfers, shall remain the same.
<br />The Second Party shall furnish service to the public over the routes now presently
<br />established.

<br />Said contract made between the parties on the 13th day of May, 1940, as amended j
<br />by the contract of February 13, 1948, as further amended by contract of July 8, 1950,
<br />and as herein above amended, shall be and is hereby continued in full force and effect. { .
