■ <br />January 7, 1952 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday January 7, 1952 <br />,at 10:00 A. M. All members being present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read <br />and approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the amount of $11,682.56 were <br />lapproved and ordered paid: <br />4.5 Indiana & Michigan Electric Co.-$ <br />;Indiana Bell Telephone Co.------------- 11. 11,148.- <br />!Indiana & Michigan Electric Co.------- 1.08 Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. - 180. <br />:Indiana & Michigan Electric Co.------- 341.30 <br />STREET & TRAFFIC: Ind. & Mich. Elect. 15.80 H. H. Slominski, M.B.------------ 9.0 <br />Russell Screes, representing Frick Electric & Radio Co., presented to the board the <br />proposed installation.- an aluminum awning, or marquee, for store front at 1901 Miami <br />Street. This was considered and the board directed the clerk to notify Mr. Dalton Moomav <br />Building Commissioner, that the board approves the installation and authorized issuance c <br />a permit accordingly. <br />Mr. R. S. Andrysiak was defsgnated chairman of the Board. <br />SEWAGE DISPOSAL <br />The matter of the petition dated December 27, 1951, filed by Lester Verdun et al, <br />which was presented to the board on December 311 1951, pertaining to the Northside <br />:Drive and Pleasant Street traffic condition by reason of the interceptor sewer system, <br />Iwas referred by the board to the City Engineerts office for consideration and <br />appropriate action. <br />!ENGINEERING <br />DEPARTMENT <br />i Bonds for excavation in Streets for Norman W. Collmer, Joseph M. Hiznay, and <br />:Arthur C. Rogers were approved by the board. <br />A letter was received by the City Plan Commission indicating that they recommend <br />jpetition <br />of Harry D. Ullery Coal Co. for vacating portion of alley between lots 339 <br />and 345 in Cottrellst lst Addition. <br />This was referred to the City Engineer for further consideration. <br />it <br />A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indicating that they recommend <br />:the petition to vacate portion of Victoria Street west from the west line of Michigan <br />'Street, and was referred to City Engineer for further consideration. <br />I <br />A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indicating that they recommend <br />• <br />1 <br />petition of Fabricated Steel Products of Indiana Inc. for vacating a portion of <br />jBowman <br />Street west from Main Street be amended to read : From the west line of Main <br />;Street <br />to the East line of the north and South Alley next West. This was also referred <br />i <br />to the City Engineer for further consideration. <br />A letter was received by the City Plan Commission indicating that they recommend <br />petition of C. Harry Swanson, Inc. for vacating portions of streets and alleys in <br />,Tuxedo Park 2nd Addition and in Jefferson Heights Addition. This'petitinn was referred <br />'I to the City Engineer for further consideration. <br />i <br />STREET DEPARTMENT <br />Mr, Harry Tomlinson, Street Commissioner., was present and reported the unsafe and <br />very bad condition of the Sample Street Bridge. It was recommended that the Street <br />Department post signs limiting the speed of vehicles to 10 miles per hour and weight <br />of vehicles be limited to 10,000-1bs. gross, and the City Engineer was requested to <br />make an inspection and report on.this matter to the board at itts next regular <br />meeting. <br />;ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT <br />The board approved sewer plans for the following locations in McKinley Terrace <br />• <br />Addition for the Crown Development Co., Inc.: <br />McKinley Avenue and Pt-.
