E. <br />108.50 <br />Vennet, Maurice <br />40.00 <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Ernest <br />Miller, <br />Traffic Engineer, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his department were <br />discussed. <br />Mr. Miller presented his report <br />on the <br />petition for the installation of <br />a traffic <br />'j signal at Mishawaka Avenue and Beyer Avenue. <br />A survey of traffic conditions <br />was made and? <br />it was found that traffic at this <br />intersection <br />is at times quite congested. <br />Mr. Miller i <br />i informed the Board, however, that <br />since the <br />petition for this signal was received <br />rather <br />late this year, it will be impossible, due to <br />taterial shortages, to complete <br />this in- <br />stallation during 1951. He feels, <br />however, <br />that it should be included in the <br />1952 instalj- <br />lations. <br />it <br />0 <br />• <br />BUSSES: A petition was received asking for the approval of the Board for an addition to' <br />bus service to the southwest section of the city. The bus route at present follows a <br />route north on Gladstone Avenue to Western Avenue then east on Western Avenue to center. '; <br />The petitioners ask that this route be altered so that the bus would travel north. on <br />Gladstone to Western Avenue, on 1estern Avenue to Villageway; north on Villageway to Wash- <br />ington; east on Washington to Sheridan; south on Sheridan to Western; then east on Western <br />to center. This petition was referred to Northern Indiana Transit for t heir consideration. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's Bond was approved and ordered filed for Belleville <br />Lumber and Supply Company. <br />Excavation Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Leslie 0. Hawkins and Wallace <br />Mitchell. <br />A petition was received asking for the construction of a curb on Sheridan Avenue <br />#from Western Avenue to Sample Street. This was referred to the City Engineer's office. <br />A petition was received requesting the vacation of II -Vest Colfax Avenue from North <br />Brookfield Street to North Johnson Street. This was referred to the City Plan Commissi <br />for investigation and report. <br />
