S` <br />October 22, 1951 <br />A regular meeting of the Board <br />of Public <br />Works was held on Monday, October 22, 1951, <br />at 9:30 a.m. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and <br />approved. City Reflecto <br />rized stop -sign changed to scotchlite stop signs at Ford and Walnut Streets. <br />The following stop signs were approved by the Board and installed making 4-way stops?: <br />on Fellows Street at Bron AVeet, both sides; Fellows Street at Indiana Avenue, both sides; <br />Ewing Avenue at Twyckenham Drive, both sides; and on Franklin at Calvert Street, both si4les. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractors' Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Eugene A. <br />Harris; and South Bend Building Construction Company. <br />A petition was received asking for the vacation of the alley between Main and Lafa- <br />yette Boulevard from Main Street west to the east line of the alley ire-st of Main Street! <br />• "running nor"th arid -south between.Monroe and South Streets. Referred -to :City Engiriear. <br />i <br />A letter was drafted to Mr. 0. H. Xkusmeyer, Plant Engineer at the Studebaker Corp., <br />denying their request for a loading dock to be built at the north-east corner of Tutt <br />and Lafayette Streets, because it is in violation of an ordinance prohibiting backing up <br />of trucks over a sidewalk. <br />_The Board approved Change Order #1 Contract #8 of the Hydraulic and LaSalle Street <br />sewer project which contemplates building a concrete base in the manhole at Sycamore and <br />LaSalle Streets, cleaning the manhole at Hydraulic and LaSalle Street, and cleaning the <br />thirty-four feet of the existing sewer north from the manhole if same is found to be in- <br />tact. If, at the time of cleaning, this manhole it is found that no concrete base exists <br />to build same._ Payment for same to be made in accordance with Page E13 Paragraph 34, sub <br />paragraph (d) General Condition of the Contract, i.e., on a cost plus basis. - <br />COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT <br />STATE OF IND IANA <br />) SS: <br />ST. ff0SEPH COUNTY ) <br />IN THE MATTER relating to the improvement made under Improvement Resolution No. 268 <br />1951 and the plans and specifications therefor comes now Virgil H.
