335 • 0 • 0 • 0 Mr. Ralph Kinyon, 2206 Miami Street, appeared before the Board to ask permission to construct a permanent type canopy on a building at the above address, which will extend two (2) feet over the sidewalk. Permission was granted. Mr. Fisher, representing the United Fund, appeared before the Board to ask permissio to_place posters advertising the United Fund on the electric lamp posts in down town Sout Bend. The Board granted permission provided the posters will not be fastened to the post with wire or in any way that will injure the finish of the post. The Board approved plans for a pavement on Addison Street from Jennings Avenue to Klinger Street, STREET DEPARTMENT: Melton 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per- taining to his department were discussed. CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was -present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11415 a.m. (ATTEST: September 10, 1951 BOARD OF PUBLIC ORKS & SAFETY A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, September 10, 1951, at 10:00 a.m. All members were present. A petition was received askingthat truck traffic be prohibited in the alley between Illinois and Wellington Streets, north of Western Avenue. This was referred to Mr. Mille Ifor investigation and report. i :'BUSSES: A letter was received from the Northern Indiana Transit, Inc., ackno*ledging receipt of the petition for the extension of bus service on South Bend Avenue and indicat ing that a report will be made within the next week. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractorts Bond was approved and ordered filed for Paul Pocza. An Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for Goheen Plumbing & Heating Com- pany, Inc., Mishawaka, Indiana. A petition was received asking"for the construction of a permanent type pavement on South Illinois Street from 'Washington Street to Jefferson Street. This was referred to the City Engineer for investigation.
