271 �IENGINEERING DEPARTMENT A Maintenance Bond was approved and ordered filed for Edward J. White, Incorporated, for a sewer on East Pennsylvania Avenue. An Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for Earl C. DeVan. Contractor's Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Harry N. Barnes; and Burton Morse. The Board approved the plat of Hartman's Twyckenham Plat an addition to the City of • South Bend. The City Engineer filed plans and specifications for the LaSalle Street sewer and the Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for same. Bids to be returned on June 11, jl ^ 1951. The approved Pavement Plans on May 14, 1951, for Tuxedo Drive from Jefferson Boule- vard to Washington Street in Swanson's Park lst and 2nd Addition. STREET DEPARTMENT: Melton 0, Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per- taining to his department were discussed. • CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. The Board approved the following stop signs: Erskine Boulevard at Ewing Avenue, southeast corner. Columbia Street at Bronson Street, both sides. St. Joseph Street at Bronson, northwest corner. Marrietta Street at Bronson Street, southeast corner. Stop Signs to be changed to Scotchlite Signs at Bronson and Rush, both sides. RAILROADS: A letter was received from Grand Trunk Western.Railroad indicating that an overhead'street light had been installed at the grade crossings at 35th Street. A letter was received from the New York Central System indicating that they are ac- tively engaged in repairing their bad crossings in South Bend, and, also, that they had issued instructions to their crews to avoid blocking of crossings so as not to interfere with traffic.
