Baer was absent. The meeting was called for the purpose of pub- <br />lic hen.rings on the following Improvement Resolutions: <br />i <br />No. 2642 GRANDVIEW COURT from Cottage Grove Avenue to Harrison Avenue. <br />No. 2644 ROBINSON STREET from the south line of Lincolnway East to the north line <br />of Calvert Street. <br />No. 2645 RUSH STREET from the south line of Dayton Street to the north. line of <br />i Calvert Street. <br />No. 2.646 ALLEY BETWEEN MICHIGAN AND MAIN STREETS running north and south between <br />Stull and Broadway Streets. <br />No. 2647 ALBERT STREET from the south line of Ford Street to the north line of <br />!� Sample Street. <br />No. 2648 ALLEY BETVIVEEN KENDALL AND CHAPIN STREETS from the south line of Dubail <br />! Minutes of the previous meeting were read and laPP rov- <br />ed. Salary claims in the amount of $27,1'98.61 were approved and ordered paid. Claims of <br />;1the following suppliers in the amount of $6341.18 were approved and ordered paid: <br />iForbe,s Typewriter Company 5.50 McCaffery Company 9.84 <br />s'South Bend Exterminating Co. 9.10 PARKING PETER DEPARTMENT: <br />!South Bend Window Cleaning 53.50 Deneen Corporation 433.96 <br />STREET & TRAFFIC: Smogor Lumber Company 10.00 <br />!Indiana State Industries 112.28 <br />i <br />;TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertains <br />ing to his Department were discussed. <br />i <br />i Mr. John Zrinyiand property owners in the area of the Studebaker Corporation appear <br />ed before the Board to further discuss parking problems in the Studebaker area. Mr. Ylil-1! <br />!ler informed the Board that he was working on the problem and Mr. Baer assured the per- <br />sons present that the Board is working with the Studebaker Corporation to reach a solutio <br />to the problem. 1; <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: An Excavation Bond in the amount of tl,000 for the Goheen Plumb-'; <br />�ing & Heaibing Company of Mishawaka was approved and ordered filed. � <br />i! <br />The Board approved a Maintenance Bond for the Reed Construction Company for the paver <br />Iment on Addison Street. <br />A petition was received asking for the vacation of the first alley south of Calvert <br />Street from Williams Street to the first alley east of 17_%illiams Street. This was referre <br />to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. <br />The Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise for bids fcr the Intercepting Sewer <br />Contracts 3-A, 3-B and 4-A. Bids to be returnable on October 2, 1950. <br />Mr. Carl J. Reinke appeared before the Board to request permission to install a per- <br />manent type canopy for the Jefferson Hotel at 210 10,est Jefferson Boulevard. This canopy <br />extends nine (9) feet over the sidewalk and is ten (10) feet wide. The Board granted per <br />mission. <br />Mr. Webster, representing the Dan Webster Coal Company, appeared before the Board in <br />answer to complaints from residents near his coal yard. Several interested residents als <br />appeared before the Board. After a full discussion of the matter, Mr. Vtlebster was asked <br />to see what he could do to eliminate the conditions resulting in the complaints and to <br />report to the Board at a later date. <br />
