The following letter was written to the <br />Department regarding the Bowman Creek rat <br />;Gentlemen: <br />attention of Doctor Nicholas Carter of the Health <br />condition. - <br />The matter involved in the enclosed reports was referred to the Board of Public %orks by 1 <br />the City Council. <br />We request that the work recommended by the South Bend Exterminating Company be done. If <br />you do not have the necessary $60.00 in your Rodent Control Fund, please let us know and <br />we will attempt to make this fund available from some other source. I <br />If you have any other suggestions pertaining to this, please let us know. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC I�J'ORKS & SAFETY <br />CONDEMNATION RESOLUTION NO. 26400 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of <br />damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of Condemnation of an alley between <br />Ewing Avenue and Altgeld Street under Condemnation Resolution No. 2640. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance! <br />were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same <br />were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots and parcels <br />of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The Board, <br />therefore, decided to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all <br />things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, <br />and the alley opened upon receipt of the amount of -benefit assessments from the various <br />property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to said alley condem- <br />nation are hereby sustained. <br />The Board approved plans for the widening of Lafayette Boulevard from the south curb <br />ine of Western Avenue to the north curb line of South Street, and the Clerk of the Board <br />was directed to advertise for bids for same, returnable on September 11, 1950. <br />The Board approved sewer plans for the Blackwood Apartments on Twenty-fifth Street; <br />Alley west of 25th Street; and Alley east of 25th Street. <br />The Board approved street improvement plans for the Colpaert Realty Corporation for <br />Gladstone Avenue from 7,1ashington Street to Bonfield Place; Bonfield Avenue; and, Sunset <br />Avenue. <br />The Board approved sewer plans for Canterbury Courts on Jefferson Boulevard; 29th Stre <br />Twenty-eight Street; Alley between 26th and 27th Streets; Alley between 27th and 28th <br />Streets; and, Alley between 28th and 29th Streets. <br />A contract was entered into between the City of South Bend, Indiana and the Reed Con- <br />struction Company, Mishawaka, Indiana for the widening of NORTH MICHIGAN STREET from the <br />south curb line of Madison Street to a point 290 feet south of the south line of Madison <br />Street. <br />(STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his Department were discussed. <br />i <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Lesczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining <br />to his Department were discussed. <br />PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: Mr. Maurice C.
