579 <br />The following letter was sent to the Hoosier Brewery Company: <br />Gentlemen: <br />i The Board of Public Works and Safety is in receipt <br />�! of a series of complaints from adjacent property ownera> <br />that smoke, grit and soot emenating from a smoke stack <br />on your property is causing a nuisance and damaging their <br />II property. <br />• �� Will you please have a representative of your Com- <br />pany appear before the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />between the hours of 10.30 A. M. and noon on Monday, <br />September 261�1949 so that the Board may be advised of <br />your attitude in this matter and what steps may be taken <br />to correct this problem. <br />s/ Freda G. Noble, Clerk <br />` A letter was received from Peter Schumaker and Sons requesting permission to close <br />• lithe alleys between Michigan and Main Streets and Madison and LaSalle Street in order to <br />1build an addition to the Eagle Lodge for a period of approximately 90 days. Permission <br />for the closing of these alleys was granted upon condition that Peter Schumaker and Sons <br />,;makes such agreement with abuting property owners as will permit the free flow of traffi <br />jat the intersections of the alleys. <br />IISTREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton Brannon, Superintendent, was present and matters pertaini <br />�,to his department were discussed. <br />It was the opinion of the Board that the order for 300 ton of Rock Salt from the <br />;Cayuga Rock Salt Company should be cancelled and the Clerk of the Board was directed to <br />!;write and cancel said order. <br />• j <br />jl_PARKING METER DEPARTIMiNT: _ _.AZr. Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the <br />�jweek ending September 17, 1949. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Lesezyznski, Sexton, was present and matters pertainin <br />Ito his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Board adjourned at <br />10:00 A. M. <br />September 261 1949 <br />A: regular meeting of the Board of Public <br />Safety was held on Monday, September <br />26, <br />11949 at 9:00 A. M. All <br />members were present. <br />Minutes of the last meeting <br />were read <br />land approved.
