LAVER <br />LgALAVA <br />The Board received a communication from the Common Council wherein they indicated that <br />residents from the East side of the City appeared before the Council to complain about <br />the dump located on South Bend Avenue. The Council recommended that the dump be closed <br />for a month and the Board of Public Works and Safety was directed to solve the problem. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Thomas Luce and Harry Folk, Omer and Operator respectively of a <br />dump located in the 1300 block of South Bend Avenue were notified by registered mail <br />that the dump must be closed for a period of thirty days (30) effective this date. <br />Authority to re -open the dump will not be granted unless the owner and operator are <br />• able to present the Board with a program of operation which will eliminate the nuisance <br />that is now being created. <br />A communication was received from the Common Council indicating that the residents <br />of the West Side of the City complained of the condition of the pavement of Albert Street <br />and near -by streets and they referred the matter to the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />for study. The Board discussed this matter and Mr. Andrysiak, City Engineer, as directed <br />to do everything in his power to co-operate with the Common Council to try to work out a <br />solution for conditions now existing on Albert Street and other streets. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION No. 2596 <br />Mr. Raymond Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the <br />awards of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of <br />part of the Alley west of VERNON STREET from Dubail Avenue north a distance of one <br />hundred fourteen (1141) feet under Vacation Resolution No. 2596. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation: <br />Lots numbered 14 to 19 and 27 to 33 inclusive, Leer's First Addition <br />also <br />Lots numbered 21, 22 and 23 Lihcoln School Addition. <br />• <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in <br />the City Hall at 11:00 A. M. on the 19th day of September, 1949, for the purpose of <br />hearing and receiving remonstrances from. all persons interested in or affected by said <br />vacation, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the <br />amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by <br />publishing same on the 2nd day of September and on the 9th day of September, 1949, in <br />the South Bend Daily Tribune and the Weekly Mirror. <br />R. All members were present. Salary claims in the amount of 28,35�.71 <br />were approved.
