574 <br />The Board approved plans of the Coelpaert Realty Company for the paving of Fairway <br />Street from Sample Street to Juniper Place, from Juniper Place to Lombardy, also Parkway <br />and Juniper Place, Ford Street from the Alley east of Juniper to Lombardy. <br />The Board approved the plans and profile drawings of the Hoover Avenue Sewer. <br />PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: <br />Mr. Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the week ending August 20, <br />1949. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton Brannon, Superintendent, was present and matters pertain- <br />ing to his department were discussed. <br />The Board granted permission for the Sherman-Schaus-Freeman Company to park three <br />new Studebaker Trucks in front of the Indiana Club on August 22nd and 23rd, 1949. Also <br />permission to park a new Studebaker car in frontof the Gilbert Store and George A. Wyman <br />store on Monday August 22, 1949. <br />The Board accepted the bid of the Cayuga. Rock Salt Co., Inc., of Meyers, New York <br />for 300 ton of rock salt at $17.312 per ton and also the bid of Wilson Taylor, 3014 E. <br />Hastings Street South Bend, Indiana. for hauling of salt from box cars to the street <br />department for 43.00 per ton. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaini: <br />to his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:00 A. M. <br />August �9, 1949 <br />A regular meeting.of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, August 29, 1949 <br />at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. Miller ;Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />A letter was received from, the American Bus Lines asking for the removal of Parking <br />Meter #1102 in front of their depot at 322 East Jefferson Street. This was referred to <br />Mr. Miller for investigation and report. <br />A petition to prohibit heavy trulk traffic in the 1000 block of West Dubai! Avenue <br />was referred to Mr. Muller for investigation and report. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: <br />Contractor&s Bonds in the amount of $1,000.00 were approved and ordered filed for Harry <br />M.
