538 PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: Mr. Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the week ending June 13, 1949. CEMETERY'DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Lesczyznski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining; to his department were discussed. June 20, 1949 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, June 20th, 191+99 at 9:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and ap- proved. Salary claims in the amount of $27,673.78 were approved and ordered paid. Vennet 50.00! TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernect C. Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per taining to his Department were discussed. Rev. Otto Y ount of the First Church of God requested permission of the board to use a part of Rush Street just off Pennsylvania Avenue for a playground for a period of one hour each morning for his Daily Bible School children. This school will be in session Monday through Friday for two, weeks June 20th to July 1, 1949, inclusive. This was re- ferred to Mr. Miller for investigation and report. Mr. Miller informed the Board that stop signs had been installed on the following Streets: Brookfield Street at Huron Street, both sides; Huron Street at Koscuiszko Street, both sides, Camden Street at Ford Street, both sides; Carroll Street at Pennsyl-' vania Avenue, both sides, Jackson Street at Huron Street, both sides; Marietta Street at': Broadway, both sides ; Pulaski Street at Huron Street, both sides, Arthur Street at Cedar Street, both sides. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's Bond in the amount of $1,000.00 were approved and ordered filed for Oden R. Robertson; Edward Burton; John Tatich. i A petition was presented asking for the vacation of an alley between Lots 60 & 62 in the Grady and Clark addition to the City of South Bend, which alley runs from Bryan Street north to the rear alley. This petition was referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report.
