525 <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: _____,Mrs,_ Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />Mr. Miller informed the Board that he had installed the following stop signs: <br />Greenlawn at Colfax Avenue both sides and Arnold at Sample Street, north West side. <br />The Board approved the above installations. <br />Mr. Miller informed the Board that an awning on a building at Williams Street and <br />Lincoln Way West was obscuring the traffic signal. The Board instructed that the prop-; <br />• <br />erty owner be notified to remove aforesaid awning forthwith. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: <br />A $10,000 Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for the Pinhook Manor, Inc., <br />and Contractor's Bond in the amount of 1,000 was approved and ordered filed for Leo <br />A, Lippman, d/b/a Pinhook Manor Inc, and Genteil H. Dhaeze. <br />Mr. K. L. Neal, representing the Sollit Construction Company, Inc., appeared before <br />the Board to ask permission to erect a street barricade and a covered pedestrian walkway <br />on the East Side of Lafayette Boulevard at the rear of the South Bend Tribune building <br />• <br />for a period of six (6) months from June lst, 191+9 to December lst, 1949 inclusive. The <br />Board granted said permission. <br />A petition was received asking for the vacation of an alley between St. Joseph Stree <br />and Carrol Street from Dubail Avenue south to the East and West alley. This was referred <br />to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. <br />PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: _._Mr. .Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the <br />week ending May 28, 1949. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: _____1D%_ Melton 0. Brannon, Superintend4nt, was present and matter per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />• <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT:___ Mr. Stanley Leczyzniski, Sexton, was present and matters pertainin <br />to his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at <br />10:00 A.
