<br />BUS LIVES: Mr. Browder, representing the 11E rica:n Bus Lines, appeared before the Board
<br />to a.sk perrrnission to operate a bus line with off-street parking and loading in the Yell
<br />Cab lot a.t 309 Lincoln Way East. No action wa.s taken pending further investigation.
<br />TAXI -CABS: A petition was presented by Joseph finder, through his Attorney Leon z;owalsk
<br />asking for the granting of a taxi-ca.b stand to be located a.t 127 North Main Street. This
<br />was referred to 1,11r. Miller for investigation and report.
<br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A petition to improve Grace Street from :,4ebster Street to Walnu
<br />street wa.s presented to the Board, and referred by them to the City Engineer.
<br />A Contractor's bond was approved and ordered filed for Casmier Szewczyk. V
<br />Excavation bonds were approved and ordered filed for C. S. Randolph and Edward J.
<br />White. , Inc.
<br />The following sewer plans were approved by the Board: Ford Strect f_ron Gladstone t
<br />Lombardy Drive; Juniper Place from Fairwa.y to Ford Stre ,t; Fairway from Sample Street to
<br />Lombardy Drive; Greenview Avenue from Sample .Street to Lombardy Drive; Birchwood Avenue
<br />from Sample Street to Lombardy Drive; Sample Street from Fairway to Lombardy give.
<br />Mr. Harold A. Smith appeared before the Board to ask permission to erect a canopy
<br />on the South Bend Shrine Club -on Lincoln l,'ay East, to be used only on occasion when
<br />needed. Permission was granted provided the Shrine Club carry sufficient insurance for
<br />injury to persons or property.

<br />,lSTREET DEPARTMENT: IJir. i clton 0. Brannan, Superintendent, was present and matters per-
<br />taining to his department were discussed.
<br />if The Board approved two changes in the contract for the Street Department Buildings
<br />known as General Extra Order No. 1 and Plumbing, Heating and Ventilating Extra, Order
<br />No. 2.
<br />Mr. Brannan presented a list of materials needed by the Street Department,.and the
<br />Clerk of the Board wnz directed to advertise for same.
<br />CEMETERY DEPART1,EWT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters perta.in-
<br />ing. to his departr.�-,ent were discussed.
<br />This being the date set bids were received for a. truck for the Cemetery Department
<br />land were opened and read as follows:
<br />IJBen Medow, Inc. A non -Collusion affidavit and certified check in the amount of
<br />!South Bend, Indiana $214.53 accompanied the bid.
